Wow! What a long year!

The last entry I wrote was in Sept of 2007! Shortly after that we began to see a real estate market decline in the Austin area. This has been the most eye opening experience, as this was the first real estate downturn I had experienced as a real estate agent. The thing I know for sure now, is that even in a down market, there is still business to be had, the business is just done in a different way.

I am thankful to have stayed busy through 2008, in fact I had more business in 2008 than in 2007. And now as I write this in April of 2009, dare I say that the business looks really good. I'm seeing confident buyers in the market place snatching up the properties that are priced well and staged well! Things are on the up and up!

Au Contraire

Ok, contrary to popular belief, Austin's market is still going strong. Granted we are no longer in a hyper market, but our growth is steady due to great employment oppurtunities amongst other things. We are still going strong, along with other places like Charlotte, N.C. Now, we have seen a slow down, possibly due to financing conditions and other influences like Californians not being able to sell their homes, but overall the picture is good.

On a side note, I was out of state last week, and was able to see what a gorgeous city we live in compared to some, I finally saw in Austin what the out of staters see in Austin. What a great place to call home! So come on folks, the sky is not falling! I repeat, the sky is not falling! Repeat it with me, the sky is not falling!
