The Real Story Of Foreclosures - 03/31/08 01:40 PM
I have heard from buyers many times:  "I only want to look at foreclosures, I want a really good deal!".
I inform them about the pitfalls of foreclosures, which can include financing challenges, unseen issues with systems behind the walls, and unresponsive sellers (banks). There is an upsde to foreclosures as well, for the buyers who have the knowledge, and the resources to be able to repair just about anything.
I just pulled the MLS Foreclosure stats for a few areas of the Jacksonville market, to see at what index the foreclosed homes were selling and closing at, so I can help buyers understand where they … (1 comments)

Machu Picchu Pix Part 2 - 03/28/08 02:28 PM
More on Machu Picchu, as it was an incredible trip, and I wish I had spent more time there.
It's been difficult winnowing down my 300+ shots to get to a good core - and that does not include my guy's 300+ shots!
This is they tipical (Peruvian spelling!) of their agave plants, isn't it amazing?
These are handcarved steps at Machu Picchu - these were most likely hand hewn with bronze tools.
And, this is the main city gate - look at the lintel, it's massive!
These water fountains are all over Machu Picchu - once again, possibly down with bronze tools, but … (5 comments)

Showering In The Dark - 03/26/08 07:08 AM
My power in South Jax Beach, FL, went out at 6:45am this morning - not the usual time you would "expect" a power outage, although there really is no "usual" time, per se....there were no storms, no generators blowing, just zip! the power went out.
Not expecting my power to go out, I didn't have my flashlight handy (which has no batteries currently anyway), but I do have candles scattered throughout the house, and matches. Proved to be very useful this morning.
I could not continue cleaning up my email inbox, as the wireless router was down (requires electricity), and I could … (3 comments)

Machu Picchu Trek - 03/18/08 03:55 PM
I just returned from a 10 day trip to Peru, including stays in Lima, Cuzco, and Machu Picchu. The weather, people and sites were just incredible - here are some of the pics I'll be posting. I managed to go 10 days without a cell phone and internet, and it was a bit nerve wracking at first, but I got very accustomed to it.  The oddest part was not feeling by cell phone vibrating, and I seemed to mistake everything for that darn vibration!
And, here is how they get their beverages (cervesa included) from the train station to the hotels, hostels, and … (13 comments)

Bike Week Lessons - 03/02/08 11:59 AM
As many of us North & Central Florida know, this weekend is the beginning of the annual Bike Week festivities in Daytona Beach.
My guy & I rode down yesterday to spend some time checking out all the cool bikes and funky people at Destination Daytona, which is Bruce Rossmeyer's new mega-dealership in Ormond Beach.
Since we rode from Jacksonville, I had a good hour each way with my thoughts (aside from waving to others on I-95 on their way to Daytona Beach).  And, it occurred to me there are many good lessons to be applied to our real estate business we can … (4 comments)
