Yard Overhaul Project - 04/26/12 07:43 AM
I'm always fascinated by a complete redo of a yard. I, myself, do not care for the St. Augustine grass we have here in the Southeast; it's a crawling, viney type of grass, and it just gets everywhere, especially if you don't keep it in its place! A good friend is having her yard completely redone, and has allowed me the chance to help document the process by taking before and after pictures - here is where she is so far with the process: BEFORE Before Work Started, facing east AFTER East View After - notice, walkway has been

It's Alarming! - 04/26/12 03:46 AM
I was out with a buyer one recent weekday morning and we had just pulled up to the first house. I was under the impression this was on a non-standard lockbox, and had not written down a code, so I called the office to confirm. Nope, on a Supra lockbox, so no code needed. We are checking out the adjacent properties, and the condition of the exterior of the property, waiting for her other half to show up. Open the lockbox, and open the door, only to be greeted with the BEEP BEEP BEEP of an alarm system..... I HAVE NO

Two of Top Ten Buildings In State Of Florida Call Jacksonville Home - 04/19/12 10:00 AM
This is pretty cool - I'm not certain if this is a new or annual event, but with 2.4 million votes cast, it's an honor for Jacksonville to have two buildings in the top ten. Both the UNF Student Union and St. Paul's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach graced the top ten. Other local, notable buildings on the top 100 list include: ■ Chart House Restaurant (Jacksonville) ■ Jacksonville City Hall (St. James Building) ■ Milam House (Ponte Vedra Beach) ■ William Morgan House (Atlantic Beach) ■ Florida Life Building (Jacksonville) ■ Florida Theatre

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) announces real estate market statistics for February 2012. Top 50 Most Valuable Homes In Duval County, FL - 04/10/12 05:18 AM
Kind of interesting tidbit I stumbled across on the Times Union website this morning with a link to the Top 50 most valuable homes in Duval County, which is home to Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Most are located along water, but not all are oceanfront; a large number are riverfront estates on the St. John's River which is a very picturesque setting. Would love to see the companion piece including St. John's County homes, which is home to Ponte Vedra & Ponte Vedra Beach!

Red Light Cameras - Does Your Ciy Have Them? - 04/06/12 02:58 AM
Interesting article in my online local news source this morning: Red Light Cameras Are A Go. I had overheard some people discussing this at the gym yesterday morning, and knew little about it. Apparently, once installed, the company that manufactures them quasi-guarantees a certain amount of revenue per month, per camera based on other cameras in other cities. The company that manufactures the cameras (conveniently called Redflex), charges $3,999 per month per camera (which sounds high to me, but what do I know?) and states, seemingly as part of their contract, that if a camera fails to produce at least that
