jacksonville beach: Northeast Florida Association of Realtors March 2012 Real Estate Sales Results - 04/18/12 07:47 AM

NEFAR Releases March 2012 Real Estate Sales Results Many positive indicators for month: inventory and new listings downs, supply of homes in balance, sales prices increase, percentage of lender-mediated sales decline. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) announces real estate market statistics for February 2012. Statistics encompass both single-family residential and condo sales. March, the start of what has traditionally been considered the spring selling season, was a robust month of positive indicators for the northeast Florida real estate market. Year over year, inventory shrank 30.4 percent to reach 9,783 available properties. The sharp reduction in … (4 comments)

jacksonville beach: Top 50 Most Valuable Homes In Duval County, FL - 04/10/12 05:18 AM
Kind of interesting tidbit I stumbled across on the Times Union website this morning with a link to the Top 50 most valuable homes in Duval County, which is home to Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach.
Most are located along water, but not all are oceanfront; a large number are riverfront estates on the St. John's River which is a very picturesque setting.
Would love to see the companion piece including St. John's County homes, which is home to Ponte Vedra & Ponte Vedra Beach!

jacksonville beach: Restaurant Review: Metro Diner, Jacksonville Beach, FL - 02/19/12 12:15 PM
A few friends and I ventured out for lunch today, as we typically do, and today we enjoyed The Metro Diner.
Now, the Metro Diner has been around for quite some time, but this location in Jacksonville Beach is a new one; their soft open was just last weekend, so the place was packed.
Think southern comfort food at fabulous prices and you have the gist. You can peruse their menu here. And, they have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives as well.
Since they are new, you can expect a wait (ours was an hour to be seated today), … (1 comments)

The race starts at 6:30am and everyone should be in from the course by 2pm.  Here's the link to the race route, so you can plan appropriately.

jacksonville beach: CNN in Jacksonville Beach - Beach Hut Cafe, 1/27/12! - 01/27/12 08:46 AM
I am in a hotel room in Cary, NC (more on that in a future post) watching CNN this morning, and they are at the Beach Hut Cafe in Jacksonville Beach, FL! This fabulous place is close to where I live, and is a great locals kind of place....
The primary debate was at UNF last night, and I'm sure the whole town is just buzzing with excitement - hope everyone got a chance to watch, but of course, you can certainly google it at your leisure!

jacksonville beach: Poe's Tavern, Atlantic Beach, FL - 01/11/12 10:50 AM
It's nice to read positive news about a local (well, 2nd location) recently opened restaurant. Poe's Tavern opened right around Halloween (I think) and has had an immediate impact on the Town Center restaurant scene.
Based on Edgar Allen Poe (obviously) the menu has all sorts of offerings with Poe titles.  The ladys' room is wallpapered in pages from Poe books (can't tell you about the mens' room, haven't been in there - yet!)
It's a cool inside/outside floorplan, with an open deck area, then a high top table area that is covered, but has roll up garage doors to let … (5 comments)

jacksonville beach: New Year's Day Polar Plunge, Jacksonville Beach, FL - 01/10/12 08:18 AM
I have friends who have done this every year, and they love it. I, being from NJ originally, hold firmly to the theory that you should only go into the Atlantic Ocean between Memorial Day & Labor Day, and New Year's Day CLEARLY does not fall into that window.
I may consider it as a way to welcome 2013; let's face it, at least our water temps are still in the 60's down here, compared to the northern states!

jacksonville beach: DBC Day 14 - Chamber Board Of Directors Meeting - 12/17/11 10:41 AM
I have chaired several task forces/committees over the past few years for the Chamber of Commerce, and have thus evolved to be on the Board of Directors for the Beaches Division.  The meetings are every other month, so the time commitment is not large, but the pay off is immense.
I LOVE being among the first to know what is going on in my area, and that is exactly what happens as part of being on the Board.
I have learned what is opening next in vacant commercial space (the vacant Caribee Key will have a new restaurant operated by … (3 comments)

jacksonville beach: DBC - Day 11: Working On Days Off - 12/14/11 03:47 PM
I tend to take Sundays off whenever possible; I miss having a full two days off per week, but did a great job this past weekend with time off.
On Sunday, I received two offers on listings, and had no choice but to work a few hours; please understand, I'm not complaining! It's a great position to be in, and I'm thrilled to say I'm in the process of working 4 deals right now (one failed, see DBC Day 12).
Sometimes, in order to achieve our goals, we have to be flexible and look at the bigger picture; a few hours … (2 comments)
