Our weekly Beaches Realtor meeting hosted speakers from the UF Proton Therapy Institute this morning. While I knew we had the institute, I really had no idea just what they do, and how unique they are. For example, the UF Proton Therapy Institute is one of 10 such faciliites in the United States, and the only such facility located in the Southeast. 30% of the patients travel outside a 500 mile radius to come to Jacksonville, FL for proton therapy, which is administered over a 6-10 week schedule. For more information, you can visit their site here.

The University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, FL is one of just nine proton therapy centers in the country, and the only one in the Southeast. Open since August 2006, and located next to Shands Jacksonville, the institute has delivered 94,000 proton treatments to 2,800 patients. This is just one of many reasons Jacksonville, Florida's health care industry is on the rise, and another fabulous reason for people to consider Jacksonville as their new home town.
