off topic friday: Doug's 2009 Oscar Prediction Follow Up. - 02/23/09 10:12 AM

Good morning everyone. Well the 81st Annual Oscar show is now in the books and in typical fashion it was as exciting as watching paint dry or grass grow.
I successfully predicted 4 out of the 6 main categories. That's a .667 batting average folks. Not bad.
Hits: Heath Ledger, Best Supporting Actor Misses: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler Kate Winslet, Best Actress Marisa Tomei, Best Sup. Actress Slumdog Millionaire, Best Picture Slumdog Millionaire, Best Directing
I was really hoping Mickey Rourke would win Best Actor, as I think he really was. The Wrestler movie mirrored his life and he was so ingrained into the character. … (0 comments)

Actor Supporting: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight
Actress Leading: Kate Winslet The Reader
Actress Supporting: Marisa Tomei, The Wrestler
Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
Best Directing: Slumdog Millionaire

There are many other categories, but who really cares, other than the ones being nominated.
Mickey Rourke, what a comeback. He has always been an excellent actor made in the same mould as James Dean, with nearly the same tragic ending.
