Park Meadows Keller Williams Open House Success - 06/27/10 09:12 PM
The Park Meadows Keller Williams Open House was a success on Friday, June 25th. The office moved office buildings in December and waited for some nice weather to have an open house for our clients and venders. Even though it got up to 100 degrees, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had several sponsors to help us out with the event. We had a DJ that played a variety of music and lots of water to drink. Two of our agents did all of the grilling. I'm glad I didn't have to do that! It was another 20 degrees warmer near the gill.

Would You Want to Live Here? (part 3B) - 06/27/10 12:01 AM
Would you want to live here? This is part 3B of reviewing odd and unusual city names throughout the country. In part 1, I reviewed the cities with names that were beneficial to the real industry. In part 2 I reviewed the unusual city names that were a detriment to our industry. I had to break part 3 into part A, which reviews the unusual and random city names in Alabama through Indiana. This post (part 3B) will review Iowa through North Carolina. And in a future post (part 3C), I will review the remainder of the states. In Iowa, there is What

Best Advice Ever - 06/23/10 08:18 PM
The Best Advice Ever... I could have asked this question as a mind bender, but decided to use it as an interactive blog. When people were asked what the most valuable advice they have been given was, the #1 answer was "don't sweat the small stuff". I agree with don't sweat the things you can't control, but the small stuff or details, especially in our business, is extremely important and should be sweat-ed and a priority. So my personal view on this advice is conditional on what the "small stuff" really is. Now if the advice was don't sweat the things you have no control

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to All the Fathers Out There - 06/19/10 09:27 AM
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY To all the dads out there I wish you a fabulous Father's Day on Sunday. I will not be able to spend the day with my dad. He lives 1000 miles away in the Chicago area, but I will be with him in spirit. And unfortunately my sister just moved up to central Wisconsin, so she will not be with him either. That is the sad reality of life sometimes. But I know she will be with him in spirit as well. We will both make our long distance phone calls. Talk to Dad. Have a great conversation

REALTOR vs. Real Estate Agent - 06/17/10 01:47 PM
REALTOR vs. Real Estate Agent I just read a post written by Debra Walsh entitled You Did What?? You Will Never Show One of My Listings!! And that got me thinking about the reasons of why abiding by a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practices is so important. This board holds us accountable. We are held to a high ethics code which includes competency, fairness and high integrity. If other agents, buyers or sellers have a complaint, there is a board that will review the complaint and disciplinary action can be taken against that Realtor. This isn't true of a real estate agent,

Would You Want to Live Here? (part 3A) - 06/15/10 08:47 AM
Would you want to live here? This is part 3 in reviewing the different and unusual city names throughout our country. Since there are so many, I am going to have to break this down into three parts; part 3A, part 3B and part 3C. There are some interesting names that are great for our real estate industry, some that are not so great and some that are outright crazy, ridiculous and random. In this post I am going to review the names that are down-right odd or off the wall. Part one reviewed the names that are beneficial for our industry.

Would You Want to Live Here? (part 2) - 06/13/10 03:14 PM
Would you want to live here? This is part two in a three part series in reviewing the different and unusual names of cities throughout our country. There are some interesting names that are great for our real estate industry, some that are not so good and some that are just outright crazy and ridiculous. In this post, I am going to review some of the names that I thought would be a detriment to our industry. Part one reviewed the names of some cities that would be beneficial to our industry. There would be a lot of yard work and gardening

What a Nail Biter! - 06/10/10 12:15 AM
What a nail biter, this was!!!! The butterflies in my stomach are finally settling down. I can say this with pride and happiness, after 49 years, the Chicago Blackhawks have finally brought the Stanley Cup back to Chicago! The Hawks seemed to have to chase and play catch up with the Flyers even though the Hawks scored the first goal. The hawks goalie, Niemi was really pushed to the limit. The puck seemed to be in front of Chicago's net more than on the other end of the ice. In the 3rd period, the Hawks were finally ahead by one, but not

Property Wish List - 06/09/10 07:41 PM
Property Wish List In an earlier post entitled, First Time Homebuyer Tips on Purchasing, I stated that a buyer should figure out what their wants and needs are in a home. Some of the items I have on the list that I give buyers to fill out include the following: # of bedrooms # of bathrooms size of home style of home age of home any formal living spaces required ( ie, dining room, living room) type of home ( ie, single family, condo, etc.) near certain locations ( ie, schools, churches, their employment, transportation) appliances needed fix up or move-in

Hawks Win! - 06/06/10 11:44 PM
Blackhawks win! This is the most exciting game I have seen. And it ends with an empty net goal by the Hawks. I watched the game while I was on Facebook and through the comments, I felt like I was watching with a group of friends. Everyone was making comments and conversations were happening connecting us all. How fun is that?! Some were friends from high school and others were friends of friends that I didn't know. But we were all rooting for the Hawks. The marvels of technology still amazes me sometimes. . The final score was Hawks 7, Flyers 4.

It's That Time of Year Again - 06/05/10 04:25 PM
It's that time of year again. The outdoor spring and summer chores have started. As I sit in my family room with the windows open, I am able to enjoy a pleasant spring breeze as it comes through my windows. My neighbor's lilac bush is in full bloom and the aroma is quite pleasing. While enjoying the breeze and the smells that spring brings, I am accompanied with the tune of several lawnmowers dueling as they trim the ever growing grass. Ahhh, the sights, smells and sounds of spring. I feel so blessed to experience the changing of the seasons. Enjoy a

Have You Done Your Civic Duty? - 06/02/10 11:37 PM
Have you done your civic duty? A few weeks back, I received that dreaded jury summons. Part of me was curious and interested in going and the other part of me dreaded it, due to the potential time commitment. Last night I had to call in to a number to see if my juror number was in the pool. I received juror number 1251. I dialed the number and the recorded message gave several instructions, of which, juror numbers 1056 through 1254 needed to call another number this morning to see if we needed to show up at the courthouse today. Wow,

Laughter Can Be Great Medicine - 06/02/10 12:24 AM
Laughter can be great medicine. According to Lord Byron, "Always laugh when you can. It is a cheap medicine." That sounds like solid advice to me. So tonight, I'm working from home, making sure my files are in order. As always, I have the television on for some noise. But, I was distracted by the show, 'Wipe Out" (toated as the world's largest extreme obstacle course). I'm not sure if any of you have ever watched it, but I have been laughing at the contestants. They are put though different obstacle courses that you just have to be crazy to attempt. They get punched,
