For the last six months or so, the town of Wilton has been following a mother bear and her cub, named Lily. There have been feeding stations set up, and folks out with video watching them off and on. They are not quite regular in their visits, so they are not always caught in sight.
Last week, on Monday, a bear was spotted in Redding, in Georgetown on Tuesday, and three spottings in Wilton on Wednesday. Wilton police sent out email notification of the sightings at 8:25, - (13 comments)

Trees Are Part of the Property Dance - Good Lookin' - Part Three - 06/27/10 06:01 AM
Trees Are Part of the Property Dance - Good Lookin' - Part ThreeGood looks are necessary and desirable in most facets of our lives. A well maintained property with pruned, properly sized trees, and a variety of species and colors is always attractive to a buyer or homeowner. It's always nice to be able to approach your property with pride. In Wilton, CT, we have such large trees, it is imperative that they be maintained. There are several key ingredients to having "good lookin' trees." 1. Well pruned trees 2. Healthy trees 3. Properly placed trees 4. Change of color, (10 comments)
Trees Are Part of the Property Dance - Size Matters - Part Two - 06/25/10 11:45 PM
Trees Are Part of the Property Dance - Size Matters - Part TwoYour property is all part of a choreographed dance. Each part plays a part in the whole. Without one part, the remaining parts are disfunctional. Trees are a large part of the dance, and should fit just like the flowers, the green lawn, the freshly painted exterior, and the beautifully updated and decorated interior. The size of the tree matters in relation to where it is on the property, and where in relation to the house.
The plantings around a house and on the land should complement the (10 comments)

It was an absolutely gorgeous day here in CT today! I was at Longshore Club in Westport CT at 8 am playing tennis with friends on their beautiful Har - Tru courts. Afterwards, I looked around, and decided it was time for a quick video.
Longshore Club has tennis courts, golf, sailing, a driving range, a swimming pool, and a fabulous 4 star restaurant. I have captured a little of it in my video.

Father's Day - lots of Memories of the Past - 06/20/10 11:18 PM
Father's Day - lots of Memories of the PastWe all have fathers who have taught us something important, whether it is "what to be," or "what not to be." My father gave me the ability to think on my feet, and never be afraid of being a woman. We can do almost anything a man can do , some things better...... He taught me to analyze a problem, dissect it, and 99% of the time, solve it. He encouraged us to try everything around us - sports, fixing our homes, building crazy things in the woods out of whatever we found, (11 comments)
Septic Systems Need to be Maintained - 06/20/10 10:41 PM
Septic Systems Need to be Maintained As real estate agents, we know that the septic tank and fields get inspected when a buyer has an accepted offer. This is a fairly simple procedure, and hopefully all will go well. If things are not in a healthy state, this is one of those hidden (meaning it isn't seen every day) HUGE expenses that will shock a seller, or make a deal collapse if the seller cannot or will not remediate the problem. There are some very simple solutions to maintaining septic health. Obviously, do not flush things that should not be there (3 comments)
Earthquake Preparedness in Anaheim Hills - 06/20/10 09:55 PM
I think this would do for tornados, nor'easters, hurricanes, etc .... Via Vic Steele - Broker, Orange County, CA (Valet Real Estate Services): Last night's rolling earthquake of 5.9 magnitude reminding us of the importance of earthquake preparedness in Anaheim Hills! If you are like me, you have an earthquake kit - you're just not real sure where it is. Let's take care of that before this weekend - promise? According to the American Red Cross, your home saftey earthquake kit should contain: WATER - Store water in plastic containers; a normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water (3 comments)
Via Marjorie Taylor, CRS - Homes in St. Augustine (Homes in St. Augustine - Watson Realty Corp.): It happened before, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will again. Senate approves an extension to qualify for home-buyer tax credit I just got an e-mail from a lender I work closely with, Seymoine Schmidt with FBC Mortgage, LLC that the proposal pushes the closing deadline back to Sept. 30, 2010, from the previous June 30 deadline. Could this be the lifeline that is needed to spur summer home sales?

perhaps one of the most beautiful areas in Wilton. It boasts gracious traditional colonials in a lovely South Wilton neighborhood, just off of historical Chestnut Hill and Grumman Hill Road. Until 1994, it was a very large farm, partly in Norwalk, but mostly in Wilton.
In 2003 and 2004, the Four Winds Farms was sold to a very prestigious builder who divided it into approximately 15- 20 lots, bordered by protected conservation land. All of the lots have been sold and (13 comments)
Things Not to Do With Your New Video Camera - 06/09/10 10:55 PM
Things Not to Do With Your New Video Camera I finally invested in the HD Flip Video Camera - for those who don't have one yet, if you are a member of Costco, there's a discount coupon if you purchase it - no coupon necessary. No excuses anymore.... I need to go back and get my discount. I learned very quickly NOT to pan back and forth - just slowly one way. Let folks "smell the roses" as you go. I learned also on the boat that it can be very rocky and uncomfortable to watch in replay - only when (35 comments)
It is pretty much understood, that if in foreclosure or going through a short-sale, credit scores are going to take a hit. What has not been clearly understood ... is just how much of a hit is felt? Until recently, there had not been much of a barometer or "method" known for calculating or determining how these delinquencies would affect a FICO score. Fair Isaac has recently revealed a little bit of information as to how they calculate that. Explaining the five components that make (1 comments)
Snagit - You Gotta Check Out This Program - 06/07/10 05:10 PM
Great program! Thanks for the post! Via RJ Baxter (First Mortgage Corp): Snagit I wrote an article last week about 10 of the best free software programs out there, and free is great, but this little program is well worth the $49.95 investment, so I had to get the word out. The program is called Snagit. It allows you to capture a screen shot of a specified area on your desktop and make it into a document that you can save on your hard drive. Websites, word documents, pdfs, doesn't matter, you can "snagit." That concept by itself isn't super-unique, but what makes (6 comments)

Who Cares about the top? You cannot see it! - 06/01/10 06:45 PM
Who Cares about the top (roof)? You cannot see it! We can see the icing on a cake, we can see the grass on a lawn, we can see the flowers atop a plant, but usually, we cannot see the top of a house! Is your roof as important as the rest of the house for appearances sake? Would your serious buyer care?
I believe that the roof is almost more important than the front door, since any buyer worth his salt will just see lots of dollar signs when he looks at a bad roof. Just as (8 comments)
