Coming Home is Hard - 07/28/11 10:15 PM
Coming Home is HardWe all know that coming home sometimes is the hardest thing we do. Summer is the time of vacations, camps, special family times, etc..... Away we go after having anticipated the trip for probably 4-5 months, if not a year or more. Then in the blink of an eye, it's over. All of that anticipation, organization, thought, effort to get there, rearranging of schedules, coverage for work, - it's over in a blink. Did you enjoy every moment like you should? Did you live life like there was no tomorrow? We just spent a week with my son (17 comments)
Tyler Stewart Finishes Third in the Lake Placid Ironman 2011 - 07/24/11 10:37 PM
Tyler Stewart Finishes Third in the Lake Placid Ironman 2011 It was so much fun following Tyler Stewart on her progress around the Ironman course today at Lake Placid. She is just so totally unbelievable to watch!!!! We had so much fun running from spot to spot and cheering her on.
What a great thrill to watch her run across the finish line in third place as a professional in a race that takes over nine hours for the pros!!!!
We are heading back down to the finish line now at late evening to cheer on the (16 comments)
Tyler Stewart is coming out of the water and starting her bike in the 8th position for the women professionals. Her strength is the biking and running, so the other women will see her breathing down their backs soon enough. She will pass a lot of the women in the biking, and more in the running. Tyler Stewart stood on the podium as top ten in the world professional in 2009, so she is one to watch in every race....
Join us in spirit, if you can... this is apparently the traditional send off by this family.. very cute, but tough to be up at 5:45 am ... Johnny took the video camera with him, so I couldn't upload this right away. The Game Day Dance for Tyler Stewart's Start for the 2011 Lake Placid Ironman. (4 comments)
Tyler Stewart is off! 5 am on Sunday - Race Day!!! Johnny and Tyler just drove out the driveway to the race, and the sun is barely peeking up at the clouds. I am super nervous for her, because even though her results don't matter, it's still a race where so much can happen. The roads up here are in terrible shape for the biking, after the horrible winter we all had here in the East, for example. (4 comments)
Saturday - Tyler Stewart Readies for Her Ironman in Lake Placid - 07/24/11 05:44 AM
Saturday - Tyler Stewart Readies for Her Ironman in Lake Placid Tyler spent the day with her family and friends in the Lake Placid area getting her supplies ready and herself rested for the big race the next day. She rode bikes with her friends and members of her family, delivered her bike to the race start area, rested, and ate well. I guess you don't eat much when you are swimming, biking, and running for 8-9 hours straight.

Customizing and Embedding Google Maps - 07/23/11 04:18 PM
This is such a fabulous video helping all of us learn how to embed maps in our blogs, but also teaches us how to place markers, and how to outline things - such as the golf course in Craig's example here... Via Craig Daniels - Technology Instructor/Project Consultant (located NYC - remote assistance everywhere! :): Google Maps is my most often “go-to” mapping site. Including a map image on your web page or blog post is a great visual element to supplement your hyper-local content. Instead of posting a snapshot of the map, why not embed the map as an object. Tyler Stewart Interviewed at Ironman Pro Panel before Lake Placid Ironman 2011 - 07/23/11 06:54 AM
Tyler Stewart interviewed at Ironman Pro Panel before Lake Placid Ironman 2011 Tyler Stewart is quite an athlete - a professional woman triathlete who has been ranked in the top ten in the world. A pretty impressive resume all by itself. She also holds the world record on a lot of Ironman bike courses, and is the nicest person! In addition, Tyler Stewart is married to my son, Johnny. So, as a result, I can be proud and brag a lot. That's what mothers are for, right? The Ironman Pro Panel is where the news media and public can (12 comments)
So peaceful to just sit and watch these guys - and even more fun to see the growth every day!! As we got down close to take this, they kind of scattered a little, so we did "Disturb the Peace" just a bit that morning, I guess....
Their Customer Service left something to be desired - 07/20/11 08:03 AM
Debbie shows us all how simple it is sometimes to beat out the competition, by just listening and helping. Just be there when you are needed, and it all follows...... Via Debbie Gartner - Westchester Flooring -Hardwood Floors Carpet Tile Refinish - (Floor Coverings International Westchester NY & Fairfield CT): I couldn't help but laugh...my customer called my competition (that annoying carpet guy on TV) and wasn't treated very well. Her reaction was classic. On Saturday, I had a rush appointment with a customer who had a flood in her basement and needs the carpet replaced. Because it was a crazy holiday weekend, (4 comments)
IS TAKING RISKS THE WAY TO BUILD A BUSINESS - EVEN CALCULATED RISKS?? POINT, COUNTERPOINT!! - 07/17/11 10:03 PM
This post is a good thought provoking post that makes us think long and hard about just how much risk is safe, and how much is going too far out on the limb? Lenn vs, Gary ..... Via Lenn Harley, Real Estate Broker, Virginia & Maryland (Lenn Harley, Homefinders.com, MD & VA Homes and Real Estate): IS TAKING RISKS THE WAY TO BUILD A BUSINESS - EVEN CALCULATED RISKS?? Do You Link in the Comments ? - 07/16/11 05:33 PM
Do You Link in the Comments ? I know, I know .... you build more Google Juice... But, isn't the fact that you are commenting also building Google Juice? Do the owners of the blog post feel like you are hijacking their post, instead of giving them a boost? Why do I feel irritated when someone throws a link into their - (short anyway) comment on my post, - kind of like - I'm going to get the points for this comment AND get a link in there..... Do you feel that way, too, or is it just silly me? I (18 comments)

Whose Side Are You On? - 07/12/11 02:46 PM
I just read something that indicated that mortgage folks' fiduciary duty is to the lender, not the client. What say you? I never thought about it before..... So, ...... Whose Side Are You On?
Definitely. If I know a borrowers ability to repay a loan is compromised I should pass on it. Other info like off contract concessions, undisclosed seller held mortgages, or knowledge of employment ending should be disclosed as well as any fact that will compromise the borrowers ability to repay a loan. Much like a selling Realtor not disclosing a known defect that didn't turn up in (12 comments)
