Yesterday's West Hawaii Today had a notice of foreclosure sale for a Halii Kai condo at Waikoloa Beach Resort. The ActiveRain blog post that has brought me more prospective buyers than any other was the announcement of the listing of Halii Kai 16C as a foreclosure--and this notice is for the mirror-image unit next door!

Earth Day Weekend in Hawi, Big Island Hawaii - 04/24/11 07:32 PM
This year we have Earth Day falling the same week as Easter, which has made for a busy time in our little rural community of Kohala on the Big Island.  A newer tradition is to celebrate Earth Day with the Trash Bash in downtown Hawi.  Usually it includes both a Saturday night Art Show (where all the entries must be made of trash or recycled materials) and a Sunday morning Fashion Show (again with all the costumes of what would usually be considered trash).

Escape to a Condo at Fairways at Mauna Lani Resort - 04/19/11 01:12 PM
Although I live only 30 minutes away, I spent my birthday weekend relaxing in a condo at the Fairways at Mauna Lani Resort.  One of the best things about living on the Big Island is how easy it is to take a mini-vacation and escape! 
Over the course of the past year or so I've camped here in North Kohala, and rented a cottage on the beach at Puako, an ocean-view home with pool at Kohala Estates, and an Alii Drive vacation home to cook Thanksgiving dinner in Kailua Kona.  For sheer convenience and chill factor, the condo at Mauna Lani … (0 comments)

Maliu Ridge (Hawi) Real Estate Market Update - 04/14/11 01:01 AM
It's time for an update on the real estate market in Maliu Ridge, the desirable subdivision of homes on small acreages near Hawi in North Kohala.  Almost two months have passed since the lastest Maliu Ridge luxury foreclosure (REO) was listed for sale.  
I thought the foreclosure was a best buy at the listing price of just under $800,000, considering that it sold in 2008 for $1,275,000.  However, neither it...nor any other home for sale in Maliu Ridge...has had an acceptable offer since then.
