beachfront foreclosures: Kolea Beachfront Community - Foreclosure Update - 06/11/09 06:44 PM
A third REO (bank-owned property) at the upscale Kolea community hit the market today at only $499,900 for a beautiful unit that sold for $890,000 in 2006. 

Just as with foreclosures on the Mainland, we real estate agents often find a property trashed before the original owners depart.  Not in this case!  All the stainless steel appliances are in place, including the outdoor kitchen shown in the photo.

I've been posting regularly about the appearance of foreclosures at my two favorite Waikoloa Beach Resort communities, oceanfront Halii Kai and beachfront Kolea.  Nothing is a sure thing when it comes to investing in real estate, but whether you are buying for your own use or for investment it is clear that if you can get an oceanfront, ocean view or walk-to-the-beach property for the same price or less than the hundreds of homes that do not share these attractive features, your better bet is to buy the property with scarcity value.

I've blogged about the first foreclosures at oceanfront Halii Kai and beachfront Kolea, two of the most attractive condominium communities recently constructed on the Big Island's Kohala "Gold" Coast.  At Halii Kai, there is still only one REO on the market, but another unit became bank-owned last month and several more are headed to auction.
