I'm sure many buyers have heard real estate agents proclaim "today is the best time to get off of the fence and buy."  I'm also sure many remember hearing similar proclamations in 2005 and knowing what happened after the bubble burst many buyers are too frieghtened to take the jump.  Add the forecast of a second wave of foreclosures which could bring home prices down yet again and the buyer's retort is "we haven't hit bottom yet and I'm not going to buy until the time is perfect."  This is of course the ultimate plan for any investment and makes 100% … (1 comments)

On Christmas day, Dec. 25, we learned that that a man aboard an airplane bound for Detroit had tried to blow up the plane and had to be subdued by fellow passengers and crew.
Shortly after, we learned that this man's father had warned officials of his son's extremism but the warnings didn't keep him from getting on the plane.
And after that, we learned President Barack Obama said that "shortcomings" led to the attack, and learned that the White House ordered beefed-up security measures and increased intelligence-sharing between government agencies.

If you're a fan of Brad Pitt and Angelie Jolie and are interested in living in Edmond, Oklahoma you're in luck. Reportedly, there is a home being built that has been dubbed "The Brangelina," according to Zillow Blog. It's 4,000 square feet and comes complete with a sculpture of the couple locked in a passionate embrace  a sculpture that will hang from the ceiling in the master bedroom, apparently. The tribute to the couple is the work of artist Daniel Edwards and filmmaker Dave Smith. It was done as a documentary titled "Domestic Bliss: The Daniel Edwards/XVALA Project." The Department of Housing and Urban Development's efforts to help borrowers understand what costs they are getting into (see above), is just one example of the federal government's primary target as the U.S. economy comes out of this recession.
 
Consumer debt.
 
It's easy, of course, to blame the housing industry for the financial mess. And there's no question, home buyers who eagerly jumped on the bubble bandwagon of rapidly rising home values took on loans they fundamentally could not afford, adding to the problem.

This is a great post regarding the new regulations and tightened loan restrictions.  It really has become difficult to get a bad loan.

Settlement Cost Booklet HUD has published a pretty handy guide for home loan borrowers, titled “Shopping for Your Home Loan: HUD’s Settlement Cost Booklet.” This 49-page booklet explains laws, procedures, costs, etc. associated with home loans. Shopping for a Mortgage Should Get Easier - 01/05/10 03:15 PM
With the arrival of a new year also came a new way to compare home loans.
 
On January 1, new rules went into effect, which mandate that all home loan applicants be given a new version of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's "Good Faith Estimate" form.
 
The new form is designed to clarify what home loans will actually cost, which should make it easier for borrowers to compare home loans. All lenders must disclose their fees and put them in the same places on the form.
