Tax Credit & Rates Spur Home Sales - 05/27/10 11:18 AM
Tax Credit, Rates Spur Home Sales

Nationwide, April sales of existing homes were up 22.8 percent compared to April 2009, and were up 7.6 percent from March of this year. The driving force behind the jump, of course, was the now-expired tax credits. But another reason to buy is still here: historically low interest rates.

Bankrate.com reported on May 24 that the average for a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage was 4.87 percent, which is the lowest it's been in the 30 years that Bankrate has been tracking the figure.  In recent weeks, three of my clients have locked in below … (0 comments)

On May 25, 2010 the New Jersey Association of Realtor's website posted the following.
NJ Home Buyer Tax Credit Legislation Approved by General Assembly

News Abroad Lowers Mortgage Rates Here - 05/18/10 03:25 PM
April came and went without a noticeable increase in mortgage rates, which was expected by many experts. In fact, the first couple of weeks in May saw rates drop to record levels.  Two clients of mine locked in below 5% in the last couple of weeks.

Why? As the old saying goes, "It's all Greek to me."

The worry over Greece's debt problems - as well as other European countries' money troubles - has spilled into other financial systems. You saw what the nervousness did to the stock market, with the Dow plunging in recent weeks, and you can … (0 comments)

So it's the time of year where you look out the window and say "time to do yard work," but honestly all you want to do on your day off is kick back on a lawn chair and enjoy the yard not have to do all of the backbreaking landscaping and lawn care yourself.  Wish there was someone who could do a great job at a great price and get all of your beds cleaned, edged and mulched and plant all of the new flowers and cut the grass.  Well I've got just the landscaper for you Bob Staples #215-493-8139. Buying a Builder Home Without Representation Can be a Nightmare - 05/11/10 11:43 AM
Great post about New Construction.  I have helped numerous buyers negotiate great deals in new construction and it is very important to have a Realtor on your side who knows what the new construction market is going through and who can review the sales contract with you so you can make sure your interests are protected.

Good News on the Mortgage Front - 05/11/10 10:30 AM
After 12 straight quarters - three years' worth - of rising delinquency rates on mortgages, the United States finally saw a drop in delinquencies.

According to the credit agency TransUnion, the number of people 60 days behind on their mortgage dropped to 6.77 percent nationally, down from 6.89 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The decline from quarter to quarter was the first time that's happened since 2006.

"To see it turn down is a very, very strong sign," TransUnion vice president FJ Guarrera said in an Associated Press article. "We cannot characterize it as a trend … (0 comments)

Top 10 Tips When Buying A Home - 05/07/10 01:17 PM
Buying a home is probably the biggest investment you will ever make, with long-term financial ramifications. It calls for many informed decisions and for good advice from a real estate professional. When buying a home, you can learn from the knowledge and skill of a Real Estate Agent.
What can Real Estate Agents do to help you buy the right home for you?

They will help you determine how much home you can actually afford.  I can't tell you how many times I've sat down with new clients and they tell me they've been pre-approved online and are looking at certain homes on … (0 comments)

How To Pick A Lock ... smith - 05/07/10 10:42 AM
This is a great blog about what to look out for when hiring a locksmith.  If you don't want to have to think twice hire someone you can trust and who others can put their name to.  There's no one I'd trust more with my locks than Dan Macfarlan #215-249-9670.
Via Jay Markanich (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC):
No pun intended with the title.  Okay, maybe a little.
I am reading lots of articles about crooked locksmiths.  This problem has cropped up in recent years.  You need a locksmith, look in the phone book or do an Internet search, and a local … (0 comments)

Plenty of Ways To Have Fun In Newtown This Summer - 05/05/10 05:41 PM
There's this great website http://www.allaboutnewtown.org/ and they've got a great list of fun things to do in Newtown this year.  The first one that caught my eye was Newtown Uncorked.

On May 22nd 8 local wineries will be featured at the Newtown Swim Club.  Local brews and wineries are always such a treat especially when it's only $35 and there's a live band.
Another great time to be had is on June 5th from 4 - 8 pm at the Sycamore Street Summerfest which includes Newtown's Strawberry Fest.  There will be vendors, good food, live music, face painting for the kids, and more.
