The annual Winter Fair at the French International School in Bethesda MD drew crowds hungry for unique gift items, arts & crafts from around the world, and a sampling of international cuisine and pastries.
The annual fair raises money to benefit classroom activities, and brings together local vendors with unique hand-crafted items. I managed to cross quite a few items off my Christmas shopping list this afternoon.

Winter Arts & Crafts International Fair in Bethesda Sat. Dec. 11 2010 - 12/08/10 11:04 AM
Families and shoppers looking for an international experience can stop in on Saturday at the French International School / Lycée Rochambeau's annual Winter Fair. It runs from 9:30 to 5pm, and there will be everything from imported hand bags to locally produced items and a buffet. You can pick up something really unique for a holiday gift. There is hand-crafted jewelry, table cloths, leather pouches, something for everyone.

The U.S. Botanic Garden is a unique refuge from the hustle and bustle of living in and around the nation's capital. From orchid exhibits that take your breath away to seasonal displays, the Garden, situated near Capitol Hill is surely one of our national treasures. This year, if you wish to do something more than sending out "nice cards" to friends and family, may I recommend you consider ordering cards that give to a cause? Yesterday I found the following group.
