With the issue of copyright infringement coming up again with one of AR's Stagers being the victim I realized something which was part of my training but may not be covered adequately by all training providers.
The issue of using photos of decorated interiors as our own. By this I mean both stock as well as other decorator's or stager's photos. I think a good run down of copyright law with the possible punishments should be covered with students of staging. Will Stealing Photos Never Stop? Another AR Ripped Off! - 11/27/07 03:26 PM
While getting emails off websites for our upcoming SIF RT I came across the website of Andrea Soos:  top-price homestaging. Her before and after portfolio is not her work but that of AR Stager Adam Luttrell  http://www.shiftbydesign.com.au/portfolio_testimonials.html.
Some of Adam's older before and afters are no longer on his website...but surprise! you can see his work on Andrea's. Did Andrea forget to credit Adam and his company Shift By Design in Australia?
I have notified Adam and I have contacted QCDesign School (ISP), Andrea's associated training provider.
Watch what you do ladies and gentlemen:  professional stagers, no matter what designation, stick together and SIF!

SIF a Grassroots Movement! - 11/24/07 03:09 PM
I am currently in the process of organizing a Stage It Forward Round Table in Toronto because I really believe this 'grassroots' movement is what will shape our industry in the future. The process of evolving and growing our industry must be done by us.
The SIF RTs are the epitome of non-profit and grassroots. A trade association would be a wonderful evolution of SIF...someday. For now, each one of us is volunteering, there are no membership fees, no salaries to be payed.
Through SIF we are working on advancing the industry with the trickle down effect of improving business for all.

I can't thank you all enough for your kind words and support over the last couple of weeks. Please know that by your sharing and photos I've come a long way in a very short time. I will miss Lingz and People like no other dogs but through everyone's sharing I've realized it is a must to open my heart to another 'hound'.

I've just had a conversation with a very angry client today.
The client was upset because it was after she had contacted a number of different stagers that she learned there was no Certifications, no designations and no governing body for the industry. Did these 'stagers' she spoke with inform her of this?
*big sigh*
No.
In fact each one of them told her: 
they were Certified as ASP's as ASP's they were 'the best of the best' in the staging industryabout their 'professional ethics' and their 'highest level of integrity'Two told her:

I've lost my namesakes...2 Hounds Design's Lingz & People - 11/08/07 11:16 AM
The last couple of weeks have been hard for me personally. As you know, my business name is 2 Hounds Design. What you may not know, is it is named after my two dogs, 11 year old sibling American Staffordshire Terriors, Lingz & People. They have been together since birth and at times have been my lifeline.
