realtor: So You want to Buy a Home - 05/29/12 12:17 PM
So You want to Buy a Home This is a road map on how to buy a home. As with any map, you will find many different side roads and other shortcuts along the way. When you engage a Realtor® to help you find your way, you will find they not only smooth out the bumps, but they also help protect you, the home BUYER. In Texas, all real estate agents represent the SELLER by default. This is why you should sign a buyer’s representative form. And in most cases, when a buyer hires a Realtor®, they do not have to (0 comments)
These are my thoughts and in no way represent the thoughts of the Houston Association of Realtors
1. Why are we still funding RPR with less than 11% of the membership using it after 3 years? 2. Why are we spending millions on the credit union when less than 3% of NAR members have EVER used it? 3. Why are we spending millions on a "University" that only has 23 students? We could have sent them all to Harvard University, paid for room and board and all of the (2 comments)

By: Gil Rudawsky Published: September 16, 2009 Upgrading to a qualifying energy-efficient metal or asphalt roof can cut your cooling bill as well as knock off up to $1,500 from your tax bill.
The roof of your house protects against more than rain. The sun's rays beat down relentlessly, especially during summer. The intense heat can raise the temperature inside your home. Proper venting and insulation help keep the cool air in and the warm air out. So, too, do energy-efficient roofing materials, which take the brunt of the solar onslaught. Uncle Sam is encouraging homeowners to (2 comments)
realtor: I want to tell you a story about a Continental flight attendant - 05/21/09 08:04 AM
This story starts out at the NAR Midyear Conference and Board Meeting and WCR event in Washington DC May 11-16, 2009. After a very long week at the trade show, this flight attendant, Debbie Terrago did something I think needs to be brought to everyone’s attention. You see this flight attendant is also a fellow Realtor® and because of her, a completely full 737, was able to continue on to Houston... One of the flight attendants, working the flight became very ill right after takeoff and could not work the flight... and federal rules require 4 flight attendants on this flight. (7 comments)
realtor: Finding the right agent … for you - 01/22/09 07:39 AM
Real estate transactions can be stressful and are full of nuances, subtleties and loads of paperwork. Aside from that, every transaction is different because every single one involves the ultimate variable - people. Well, here's a shock: real estate agents are people, too. I'm not trying to be funny - all I mean is that every agent is unique. We've all had different experiences and have various specializations and interests. Looking for an agent can be tricky and confusing, too. Don't let that stop you-your needs are important and you should take time to assess your situation and find the right (2 comments)
realtor: Understanding the Realtor Advantage - 12/01/08 08:54 AM
Many people use the term Realtor to describe someone who is a real estate agent or broker. However, you should know there is a difference between a real estate agent or broker who is a Realtor and one who is not. As a Realtor myself, I believe there are significant advantages for clients who hire a Realtor. Ethical practices All real estate agents and brokers must be licensed by the state to assist property owners in buying and selling real estate. Only those who choose to become Realtors, however, commit themselves to a higher standard of professional conduct. This high standard (0 comments)
realtor: Know who represents you - 10/21/08 07:21 AM
Real estate transactions include many players who perform various roles to get the deal from the initial offer to the closing table. The most important of these people to you as a homebuyer is the one who represents your interests. Do you have someone working for you? Unless you've taken a few simple steps to ensure you're properly represented, you may be on your own. A seller's agent When you contact a real estate agent about a home he or she has for sale, you are speaking to someone working for the seller. This agent likely has signed a written agreement (2 comments)
realtor: Texans - Help Us Stop Unfair Taxation - 10/20/07 08:08 AM
Texans for Tax Relief is an organization of trade associations organized to protect your pocketbook. Small-business owners and independent contractors all over Texas face an important issue on Nov. 6: We must vote FOR Proposition 6. Proposition 6 will protect independent business people from an unfair tax on personal vehicles. If passed, Proposition 6 will guarantee you do not have to pay an additional $600 or more in taxes on your personal vehicle every year. The Texas Legislature and Texas attorney general agree, but we must pass this constitutional amendment to make it law. So, gather your friends and colleagues and go to (8 comments)
