Web Basics for Real Estate Sites

Nothing beats the Web as a driver of real estate traffic. So making your business Web site relevant is an important part of smart marketing, says Inman columnist Bernice Ross.

Here are some simple suggestions she offers for building online business:

Location, location, location: Make sure that you make it clear where your market is, including city, state and ZIP code, so search engines - and potential customers - know where to find you.

Make the phones ring: Include your phone number. Some people are e-mail users, but others will want to pick up the phone.

Make photos identify themselves: Tagging a photo to include location and your name and address, as well as a brief description will make video or photos findable by search engines and help potential buyers know what they are looking at.

KISS: Keeping it simple is still important. If the technology your site relies on is too sophisticated, some potential buyers may not be able to view it.
