My first Closing referral from ActiveRain - 01/31/08 12:47 PM
So, i just got through listening to Bob Stewart and Jonathan Washburn on the HouseValues Mastermind Forum. It was very informative. What I took from this was one person talking about posting about referral business. This one is long overdue.
A month ago, I get a call from my favorite Morrow, GA Realtor, Brande Bradford. Brande had a customer that has a listing that needed to be refinanced. So, the journey started. When the customer called, I reassured her that all would be taken care of. The first thing I noticed was that she had 2 properties and 3 mortgages. The plot … (41 comments)

Power Quotes Series - January Recap - 01/31/08 06:23 AM
January was an exciting month for me. This series has really started to take off ever since i changed the format of how I do them now. Lately I have noticed that people are reading them more and more. I have started taking request as I am picking on particular words for now. With that said, if there is a special one that you would like to see, you can email me a note and give me the word and I will look it up to see if I have enough material to do it.

Metro Atlanta's Housing Market - 01/30/08 11:52 AM
*DISCLAIMER* Before you start to read this post, remember this; this is my opinions on our market here.
Before I moved back to the Metro Atlanta area, I was living in Ft Myers, Florida where appreciation was at least 23% per year. I can remember getting a report monthly that ranked the top cities to refinance in throughout the United States and Ft Myers, Naples, and Cape Coral always was ranked in the top 50.

With that being said, the market in Florida got saturated with housing. I can remember buying my house and it doubling in value in 1.3 years. It … (11 comments)

Matt Savage, Fifteen-year-old jazz pianist - 01/30/08 09:51 AM
Last night on David Letterman, Matt and his New York based Trio performed on the set. I have never heard this kid before, but I was amazed by this 15 year old.
If you have never heard this kid, I would definitely check him out. You can read his bio on his web page. I think that you would extremely enjoy listening to this talented young man.

Anger - Power Quote Series - 01/30/08 06:51 AM
This week I have seen this be more prevalent than I care to mention. I was going to save this for Friday, but I chose to publish it thie morning instead. I hope that it helps one person.
How many of you have every said or did something out of anger only to eventually regret that very thing? Have you ever gotten so mad that you just had to act out?
Many times, I have seen people do this only to come back and say "I should have never said (or did) that. I was just angry?"
Then why do it at … (30 comments)

Three times a Lady - 01/29/08 05:04 PM
Blogging is not all about yourself. I have learned this from being on here. So, I am doing this for the three ladies in my life. Now, do not get me wrong, I am not a player. These three ladies are Realtors and they cover a vast area of the Greater Atlanta market. I know no other way to write about these ladies in any order other that the way I met them. So, lets get started.
First, I met Brande Bradford. Brande is the owner/operator of Bradford Reality Group in Morrow Georgia. I was sitting at my desk one day … (24 comments)

Van Wilder - Movie Review - 01/29/08 08:51 AM
Let me start out by saying, I did not hate this movie. With that said, it is not my favorite. Now, for starter, there is nudity. Not that I am against that, just do not think that this would be a family night at the movies type of showing.
Van is a 7 year student at college. He is adore by the students there and everyone wants to be his assistant. Now, you have to realize that his father is way to busy to remember that his son is still in college and has yet to graduate. With that said, once … (11 comments)

Wild Hogs - Movie Review - 01/28/08 11:25 AM
When I started to watch this movie, I was skeptical when I started to watch this movie. I had seen the previews when it first came out, but really never thought much about it. In a breakdown of the movie, I really have to say it is about 4 men in their middle age crisis that feel the need to ride the open road. Now, if you do not want to laugh, do not get this movie. Once they hit the open road and the adventure starts, so do the laughs. It does not take long to warm up to this … (19 comments)

Achievements - Power Quote Series - 01/28/08 07:13 AM
When you die, will people be talking about your achievements in life or your failures in life? For me, I am hoping for the first to happen. Maureen Dowd once said "The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for".
Think about that the next time you are sitting at the negotiating table.
I added a few more today than normal, so I hope that you can find inspiration in one of these quotes today to help you in your endeavors.

Where is my Football???? - 01/27/08 09:46 AM
OK, this morning I woke up as normal and got the sleep out of my eyes and went down stairs to walk the five dogs. After a brisk walk in 36 degree temperatures it was time to feed them. Well, that takes about an hour cause they all have to eat in cycles. So, in the meantime I usually watch HGTV. Not this morning. Today, it was about playing Wii due to a blog that Jason Crouch wrote. ActiveRain, I want you - 01/26/08 12:54 AM
Last night on the way home, on the sirius radio comes Savage Garden from 1997 and it reminded me of something that Linda Futral said in one of her post. She was marring ActiveRain.
When I listen to this song, it brings me back to when I joined ActiveRain back on September 15th, 2007. I was reluctant to join. I knew that I wanted to join, I just did not know if I needed to join.
With that being said, I know I want ActiveRain and I know I need ActiveRain. It is a prefect marriage.

Accountability - Power Quote Series - 01/25/08 07:53 AM
Accountability is described by Webster's Dictionary as "Responsibility to someone or for some activity". In every industry, regardless what you do, you have responsibility to to someone. Someone will hold you accountable for your actions. The great people hold themselves accountable above any standards that their peers, bosses, or clients can even imagine. When I work for Countrywide, I had as much as 30 people working directly for me at a given month. Every month I had to hold each and every one of these people accountable, while at the same time, they were holding me accountable as their manager.

Monday night did not offer much to watch and I had came across this movie and decided that I would take this movie in. Now, if I have to group this in genre, I would have to say it is a romance/comedy/drama and you better be ready for it.   The movie offers Diane Keaton as Sybil Stone, the mother and she does an fabulous job in this role. There are many stars in this and instead of me going through and naming all of them, let me give you the breakdown of the movie.   You have a very uptight, conservative, self … (19 comments)

Adversity - Power Quotes Series - 01/23/08 09:27 AM
My good Friend Linda Futral asked if I would do today's series on adversity. We face this daily and it speaks to the type of person you are in how you deal with adversity. I know that in today's market, adversity affects everyone around us. All that matters is how you deal with it. I hope that in these quotes you find the strength to handle what ever adversity may come your way. Thanks Linda for the suggestion.

Accomplishments - Power Quotes Series - 01/21/08 08:18 AM
It does not take one to look very far to see the accomplishments of the day, week, month, or year. It is something that we must do daily. When I started this post this morning, I had heard a few of these quotes, but never really paid much attention to them. Now that I am writing them, it seems to stick a little more with me.

Are you 24/7? - 01/19/08 06:41 PM
After going through a week long training class last week, it got me to thinking. What do people do when they go off for training or continuing education? When 8 pm comes, is your day over? Is Sunday off limits to work?
It is not that there is anything that is wrong with either of these. It is just something that I have pondered in the past. Let me give you a few examples.
Last week I got up each and every day at 6 am and went to bed at midnight. I was in the class for a massive amount of time, … (23 comments)

Now, for people in the north, this is no big deal. However, for us southerns, this is something special to us. now, we knew that it would not stay around long, so we took the dogs out to play in it and they loved it. How to reach 66000+ people - 01/19/08 02:26 PM
Really, it is quite easy to achieve this feat. All that you need to do is join and then you can have the opportunity to reach at least that number of people daily.
I reluctantly joined ActiveRain back in September of 2007. Back then the number of members was around 44000. I soon realized that the more and more that I posted on here, the more and more that people would comment.
I also learned that my postings did not have to be industry related. god forbid that all 66000 members of Active Rain discuss the same thing. No, not for me … (12 comments)

Sleepaway Camp - Movie Review - 01/18/08 12:16 PM
This movie is from 1983, but I have always liked it. If you have never seen it, go out and find it today if you are into slasher movies. The ending will blow you away.

The movie's story line is simple to follow and cheesy at best. It leaves nothing to the imagination and you know or at least can figure out who the killer is by the middle of the movie. I will not tell you here though, in case you are that slow.

Power Quotes Series - Wisdom 1/16/2008 - 01/16/08 05:36 AM
TOday, I thought that I would center around "wisdom". In the native american culture, we consider our elders to be wise. Berthold Auerbach confirms this with a quote also. There is something to be learned from everywone. I have always said that a wise man will learn from everyone around him while a fool believes that no one beneath him can teach him.
Years teach us more than books. Berthold Auerbach

Mark Kotsay to patrol Center Field for the 2008 Atlanta Braves - 01/15/08 08:09 PM

The Braves new GM finally can breathe a sigh of relief. Mark Kotsay is officially an Atlanta Brave now that he has cleared medical exams. The Commissioners office provide the stamp of approval yesterday to seal this deal as Atlanta sent Joey Devine and minor Leaguer Jaime Richmond to the Oakland Athletics for the star center fielder. Now, granted, Kotsay will not supply the power that Andruw did, but that is why Atlanta acquire Mark Teixeira from the Texas Rangers last year. So, last week it looks as thought the AFC killed me in picks and I was on the money with the NFC. So, this week, being that there are only the 2 games, lets see how we can fair.
First, lets start with the AFC. San Diego goes to New England for the AFC Championship. Now, as strong as San Diego played last week and as much as I would love to see it happen, I do not think that the banged up Chargers can handle the New England Patriots. Childhood Baseball Memories - 01/08/08 07:50 PM

Today, I thought that I would focus the quotes more on laziness and procrastinating. To me, these are two great killers in our industry. It has always baffled me why anyone would put off till tomorrow what could be done today.  If you apply yourself, something will come out of the mix. If you do not, then what can you expect?
My favorite quote has always been "You get out of it what you put in it" and that is still true today.
