movie review: The Comebacks (a movie review) - 09/10/08 02:10 PM
The Comebacks was originally released in October of 2007. It is a spoof of all the inspiration football movies that have been put out such as Gridiron Game and Friday Night Lights. This comedy is directed by none other than Tom Brady. How fitting is that.
What you have here is the most pathetic coach in the history of football. His job is simple. Take a bunch of rag tag college football players and win. Problem is, he does not know how. All he knows is how to lose. Lambeau Fields (David Koechner) lives the middle class life in America with … (2 comments)

movie review: The Spiderwick Chronicles (movie review) - 09/04/08 07:29 AM
The Spiderwick Chronicles movie is a fantasy movie that opens the imagination of all; children and adults alike. It stars Nick Nolte, Freddie Highmore, and Sarah Bolger. Also in the movie is the voice of Martin Short and Seth Rogen. One of the most impressive things about the movie and its stars is the fact that Freddie Highmore plays a dual role as the twin boys. He is the main character in the movie.
This movie is filled with special effects and animation as they bring creatures like Hogsquel (Seth Rogen), a hobgoblin, and Thimbletack (Martin Short), a brownie, to life. … (8 comments)

movie review: Any Given Sunday - 08/24/08 09:59 AM
So, to get ready for the upcoming 2008 NFL season, I reached into the vault and pulled out one of my favorites. Any Given Sunday was originally released December 22, 1999. It was directed by Oliver Stone and has a star studded cast with the likes of Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, LL Cool J, Charlton Heston, Bill Bellamy, and Jim Brown. It also has footage of actual football greats such as Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, Dick Butkus, and Terrell Owens. With a cast like this and footage as such, what football fan would not enjoy … (10 comments)

movie review: The Condemned - 08/23/08 02:40 PM
Before I get into this movie I have to tell you that it is very graphic in the fact that there is murder, rape, brutal beatings, and graphics that will turn your stomach and this is all in the name of ratings for a wealthy television producer named Ian Breckel (played by Robert Mammone). Breckel is prodcuing a live streaming video over the Internet of the fight that is set to last 30 hours.
He has bought 10 people off death row from different countries. Each of them are killers and have tempers to match. One of the killers is Jack … (7 comments)

movie review: Shoot 'EM UP - a movie review - 08/05/08 09:28 PM
I am not so sure when the last time was that I sat down to a movie that really did not have much of a plot and a actually enjoyed the show. With that said, this was one of those times. From the start to the finish, this movie is solid action. Fist are flying, guns are blazing, and people are dying. And it feels like you are in the chase. What chase you ask. Well, the movie starts out with Smith, played by Clive Owen, sitting on a bench. Entering the picture is a pregnant woman in a yellow dress, … (5 comments)

movie review: balls of Fury - Movie Review - 07/29/08 10:51 PM
First off I have to say that I have not laughed this hard in a while. This money has it's points. For the most it is more oddball humor and silly acting than anything else. But it will make you laugh and that is what a comedy should do. I am glad that I took the time to watch this. The movie stars Dan Fogler as once herald ping pong star Randy Daytona. Christopher Walken plays the sinister villian Feng who is obessed with ping pong and invites the best to his secret compound each year for a tournament when you … (8 comments)

movie review: The Mummy - Movie Review - 07/24/08 12:10 PM
Tonight, in preparation for the release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, I decided to take in The Mummy just so I could get in the mood for it again. If you are like me and have not seen these for some time, I recommend getting it off the shelf and watching it all over for a refresher. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz star in this fantasy thriller about a mummy that was ressurected in 1923. Evelyn Carnahan, played by Weisz is an English librarian who became interested in starting an archaeological dig at the ancient city of Hamunaptra. … (9 comments)

movie review: Yours, Mine, and Ours - Movie Review - 07/21/08 03:10 PM
Last night I sat down to watch this movie thinking that it would just not be that exciting. But, nonetheless, I decided to give in and take a chance and boy am I glad that I did. It was great. It had it's moments that make you just want to scream with laughter and then it has it's moments were you want to grab a tissue. All in all, it was a great movie. Originally made in 1968 with Lucille Ball as Helen North Beardsley, widow and mother of 10 children and Henry Fonda as Frank Beardsley, a widower himself with … (4 comments)

movie review: Juno - A Movie Review - 06/17/08 12:59 PM
Boy, I have to tell you this movie was not what I was expecting. I have to say though that I get it. This movie is a must see for all. It is comical and dramatic all rolled into one great movie. From the on set I was against sitting down to watch this. When it was over I was sitting there wishing that I had given it more of a chance than what I did. From just watching the previews, I never realized the actors that make this movie and the job they did in portraying their characters. From Ellen … (14 comments)

movie review: Are your ready for Frontier(s) (A movie Review) - 05/13/08 09:19 AM
When watching a horror movie, at what levels can you take it? What is your favorite way to be scared? At what point do you turn your head? At what point do you jump? At what point do you scream? At what point do you run and hide? On May 9th 2008 After Dark Films released Frontier(s) to a selective few theaters. On May 13th the unrated and uncut version will be available on DVD. Think before you click on any of these links as this is a review of a horror movie and I do not want to make anyone … (9 comments)

movie review: Eragon - Movie Review - 04/04/08 07:21 PM
Eragon was released in 2006 but I still love to watch this movie. If you are like me in any way, the mystical and mythological portions of the movie is the attractiveness of the film itself. This is a very family friendly movie and if you have not yet seen this movie, I would recommend checking it out for family night. Also, there is a complete line of books for this movie.    The Kingdom of Alagaesia is being ruled by the evil King Galbatorix. He has a Shade that has mystical powers beyond belief and he tries to get the … (14 comments)

movie review: Crank - Movie Review - 02/27/08 03:09 PM
Buckle your seat belts as this one is fast and furious from the start. It gets the blood pumping and keeps it going.
One of the things that I will tell you about this movie is do not expect any drama to this movie. And for that matter, not much acting. it is more fighting, shooting, bleeding. and a little sex all thrown into one plot and then called a movie.
Professional assassin Chev Chelios, played by Jason Statham, learns his rival Verona, played by Jose Pablo Cantillo, has injected him with a poison that will kill him if his heart … (13 comments)

movie review: The Departed - Movie Review - 02/25/08 02:32 PM

OK, if you have not rented this movie yet, or even bought it, then it is time to get out of the cellar and go get this move. The top 3 pictures are linked and will take you to 3 different places for this movie.
Sunday was my second time seeing this awesome movie. I could watch this again tonight and it would not bore me. It is packed with drama, action, suspense, and even some comedy.
Not only that but this movie is packed with stars in it from Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray … (13 comments)

movie review: UltraVoilet - Movie Review - 02/20/08 12:51 PM
Last weekend was movie weekend if you can guess. With the lack of shows to watch due to the Writer's Guild Strike, it was time to go to the movie vault in our basement. Also, I guess you can blame it on a lack of professional football and that Major League Baseball has yet to get underway. As usual, you can click on the 2 pictures here to be transported to different websites about this movie. This movie was inspired by John Cassavetes' "Gloria". The movie is set in the late 21st century. The human race as we know it has … (9 comments)

movie review: Aeon Flux - Movie Review - 02/19/08 01:49 PM
Aeon Flux is an action packed movie from the start. It is science fiction at its best. The movie takes place more than 400 years in the year 2415. Aeon Flux is a mysterious assassin for the Monicans, a group of rebels trying to overthrow the government. Aeon , played by Charlize Theron, is sent to kill Trevor Goodchild, played by Marton Csokas, who is the ruler of the city. The story takes place 400 years after a deadly disease kills all but 500 people and has also kept women from giving birth. Once the fighting starts, it does not stop. … (30 comments)

movie review: My Bloody Valentine - A movie review - 02/07/08 01:29 PM
In honor of a Valentine's day coming up, I figured I would do a review of this classic slashers movie. It was released way back in 1981 and it is still very vivid in my mind. If you are anything like me and love the slasher movies, this is a must see.
For you movie trivia nuts, there is a caption near the beginning that states Thursday, February 12th that indicates there is too be a dance on Saturday February the 14th. Now the reason why I state this is because this movie is along the lines of Friday the 13th. … (24 comments)

movie review: Van Wilder - Movie Review - 01/29/08 08:51 AM
Let me start out by saying, I did not hate this movie. With that said, it is not my favorite. Now, for starter, there is nudity. Not that I am against that, just do not think that this would be a family night at the movies type of showing.
Van is a 7 year student at college. He is adore by the students there and everyone wants to be his assistant. Now, you have to realize that his father is way to busy to remember that his son is still in college and has yet to graduate. With that said, once … (11 comments)

movie review: Wild Hogs - Movie Review - 01/28/08 11:25 AM
When I started to watch this movie, I was skeptical when I started to watch this movie. I had seen the previews when it first came out, but really never thought much about it. In a breakdown of the movie, I really have to say it is about 4 men in their middle age crisis that feel the need to ride the open road. Now, if you do not want to laugh, do not get this movie. Once they hit the open road and the adventure starts, so do the laughs. It does not take long to warm up to this … (19 comments)

movie review: The Family Stone - Movie Review - 01/23/08 12:47 PM
Monday night did not offer much to watch and I had came across this movie and decided that I would take this movie in. Now, if I have to group this in genre, I would have to say it is a romance/comedy/drama and you better be ready for it.   The movie offers Diane Keaton as Sybil Stone, the mother and she does an fabulous job in this role. There are many stars in this and instead of me going through and naming all of them, let me give you the breakdown of the movie.   You have a very uptight, conservative, self … (19 comments)
