Month of Dec New Listings - 66 units in '08 to 58 units in '09 - Down 12.1%
YTD New Listings - 1,698 units in '08 to 1,586 units in '09 - Down 6.6%
Month of Dec Total Active Listings - 429 units in '08 to 390 units in '09 - Down 9.1%

Whatcom County 2009 Year End Real Estate Statistics - 01/22/10 04:56 PM
While prices across Whatcom County on homes that are actually selling (Solds) were lower, we had slightly more units sell in 2009 compared to 2008.  This was quite a turn around from the first half of 2009 when we were down 20 - 30% in the number of units sold compared to first half of 2008. In my opinion this was a combination of the First Time Home Buyer Tax credit and the increase in distressed properties (lots of good deals out there).  I also think that these two factors were key in the lower selling prices.  In Whatcom County the … (0 comments)
