creative: Exciting News Since My Last Post Two Months Ago - 10/07/08 06:09 PM
WOW!  How time flies at supersonic speed when you're having FUN (F-U-N, FUN!)
The last post I did was entitled PRESSURE FORMS THE PEARL!  I had no idea what that title would mean two months later, but it's still true!
I have finished Chapters One, Two and Three and Chapter Four is due November 1 for my doctoral research project.  What a wild adventure it's been!
I am focusing on emerging adults (18 - 30 years old) who need their Identity Crisis resolved.  My hypothesis is:
A grace-based and community-oriented seminar on the nature of identity formation for emerging adults in … (9 comments)

creative: Active Rain Success Story: A Refreshing Eagle Experience in The Rain! - 07/13/08 04:29 PM
My beautiful and precious wife, Irene, created a post today entitled An Outstanding Leader Reveals How to Be An Effective Leader.  She dedicated the post to Gary Woltal because he was interested in finding out how a particular leader would impact her from a previous post she wrote.
Well, as most of us know, The Rain is a creative and connected community of some outstanding "eagles" who love to soar on the wind of inspiration from others.  Gary had just created a post today called Reach For The Eagle's Nest so my wife and I were soaking up his inspiration in … (20 comments)

creative: A Daring and Dramatic Dream! - 06/28/08 02:06 PM
Do you have a daring and dramatic dream?
A Daring and Dramatic Dream has just come true for me!  I finished my final two seminars in my doctoral studies this second half of June in Los Angeles.  That's a long way from Boise!  I flew out of here on June 16 and returned home yesterday.  That's also a long time to be away from my wife and son!
This has been a long marathon!  I have been in seminars during second the half of October, February and June for two years!  The past two weeks have been filled with laser focused and life … (12 comments)

creative: Cut or Peel? - 06/10/08 12:18 PM
In the real estate profession, we must become creative conflict managers to be successful.
Let me tell you a story about a conflict that will help all of us become more effective.  Two young girls were arguing over an orange in the kitchen when their mother walked in.  When she asked what the fight was all about, one daughter said she wanted to use the orange to make a pie.  The other one wanted to eat the fruit.
Their mother took out a big knife and cut the orange in two.  Neither of the girls were satisfied.
A creative conflict management … (8 comments)

creative: The Value of Being Mentored (Part 2) - 05/14/08 12:31 AM
My current mentor is Dr. Wess Pinkham from Marina del Ray, California.  He is a Creative Conflict Management and Communication Expert.  He is the Dean of Doctoral Studies in my doctoral program.  I have learned how to think in new creative new ways as he has modeled and imparted into me how the who comes before the what.
In other words, people are the most valuable resource we have.  People come before things!
That's why I love the Active Rain community.  You are agents for every aspect of real estate!
It's all about all of you creative people who are … (2 comments)

On Friday, May 9 at 11:51 in the morning I received a call from Ced Reynolds from Chino Hills, CA.
I've been a member for only three weeks!  He is the first voice contact I have had from Active Rain!
He has been a member for only three months!
Ced was very kind and encouraging to me.  He offered to help me in many ways!   I felt strengthened as we talked to each other!
For those of you who don't know Ced, he is special.  He is creative, innovative, resourceful, encouraging and friendly.  He is a consummate real estate professional and … (55 comments)

creative: THANK YOU, ACTIVE RAIN! - 05/07/08 09:25 PM
I am amazed at the eight new opportunities and blessings that I have experienced during the last two weeks.
First, my precious and priceless wife, Irene, invited me into Active Rain two weeks ago.
I have engaged with some of you.  You are so creative, authentic, gracious and compelling! Second, I was nominated to be on the Board of Directors for our Meadow Creek Homeowners Association.  Our community is scenic and spectacular!
Third, I was elected President with a great team of officers.
Fourth, I was asked to be a candidate in the Volunteer Academy for our local police department in Garden City (Boise), … (13 comments)

creative: Ten Tips for a Bright and Bold Blog! - 05/02/08 12:07 PM
All of us want maximum visibility for ourselves.
I learned something that has stuck with me from a Professor in my recent doctoral studies who is a Hollywood film producer.  He said visibility is more important than ability.  Mediocre people who are highly visible are much more successful than outstanding people who are not well known.
I have discovered Ten Terrific Tips that will help all of us:
 1.  Use words that have maximum impact such as success, pain, focus, creative, frustrated, etc.
 2.  Imagine yourself with a problem that bugs you.  Think of problems that homeowners or sellers experience.
 3.  Start with the problem first such as … (14 comments)

creative: Tips on How to Improve Excellence - 05/01/08 07:14 PM

I started training in the Volunteer Academy of our Garden City (Boise), Idaho local police department two days ago.  I discovered many creative and innovative leaders in the department and in our class.
Our police chief is from the Los Angeles area.  He has been in our police department for 26 years.  He turned that department around from being the worst in the state to the best in the state.
I was so encouraged by him.  He demands integrity, respect and compassion from all of his officers!
Translation = If we want our lives to be the highest quality possible, we must hold ourselves … (4 comments)

creative: Leadership - Creative, Risk-Taking, Team Players - 04/25/08 05:03 PM
My wife and I have established some criteria for ourselves and our leadership team.  We know that not every meet person will fit into one of our leadership teams.  We look for creative, risk-taking, teamplayers.
We always ask three questions of every potential leader:
1. Can you to the job?
2. Will you do the job?
3. Do you fit into our team?
The most important quality we identify in a potential leader is character.
Then we look for relational skills.
Then we look for flexibility.
Then we look for internal motivation.
Then we look for ability to learn and understand.
If someone is a creative, risk-taking, team player with those specific … (4 comments)

creative: Perception - 04/24/08 09:38 PM
One of the presidential candidates intrigues me.  I am thinking of Barack Obama.
He is one of the most creative people when it comes to his perception.  He is perceived by many people as a unifier.  He chooses his words wisely.
Even though his voting record is the most liberal in Congress, he is perceived as a moderate.  He is the most effective communicator of any candidate.
Perception is everything.  When people see you, what do they think of?  Left, middle or right.  Liberal or conservative.  Successful or unsuccessful.  Unifying or dividing.
In the real estate profession, how do people perceive you?  Are you creative?  … (2 comments)
