To all the Realtors, Lenders and consumers out there:
I'm sure we all are not fond of that dollar amount on the HUD or GFE that has "title insurance" listed next to it. Here is a great link that will help you save your clients some money.
I was in the title insurance industry for some time. We were constantly under pressure from the California Department of Insurance to lower our rates. It started with John Girimendi and followed by Poizner now taking action. Poizner mandated that title insurance companies list their rates online and make them public for borrowers, lenders and Realtor's to see.
I was just looking at an add from some company (on activerain) that offers free title quotes as long as you give them a ton of personal information as well as contact information. This site only asks for the meat: zip code or county, transaction type (sale/refi), what your role is (lender, Realtor, buyer, other) and an amount... BANG your done. These are exclusive rates that you have to ask for (be sure to print out) when you open title. If you don't you will get the regular rate.
