"One of the pillars of downtown Greenville — Wachovia Place — is facing foreclosure, and the future of the office, retail and apartment complex re­mained uncertain Monday as a judge decides whether to name a court-appointed receiver to manage the property. The individual busi­nesses that are tenants in the 200,000 square feet of offices, shops and apart­ments aren’t in foreclo­sure. But the property could be sold, raising the possibility of new owner­ship, according to court records. More devlopment in the Upstate of South Carolina:
"A new Walmart is coming to the Upstate.  
The 90,000 square foot store is planned along Highway 8 at Roberts Drive in Pickens.  
Civil project manager Will Rogan told News 4 that the city’s architectural board approved the landscaping, parking, demolition and signs on Thursday.  
The store will be about half the size of the one in Easley and won’t be a “super center,” but it will have all the same departments as the larger store, including groceries, garden center and pharmacy.

"First-time unemployment claims rose again last week, reflecting a job market that is still struggling to get on a consistent road to recovery.  
About 428,000 Americans filed for their first week of unemployment benefits last week, up from a revised 417,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. It marked the highest level of new claims since late June.

"The 48th annual Upper South Carolina State Fair opened on Thursday night.  
The event runs until Sept. 11 and features rides, food and shows.  
"I think it's just one of those things that people enjoyed doing when they were kids, so they want to bring their kids and grandkids back to enjoy some of the same things they did," said fair organizer Tammy Hawkins.  
Many of the people at the fair Thursday night were repeat customers.
