virginia: From the beginning again? - 03/01/12 04:27 PM
I recently read a blog article by Chris Brogan one of my favorite writers. http://www.chrisbrogan.com In his article he makes the statement that it is important to occasionally start from the beginning to let your new readers understand what you are all about. His statement is back up with examples, and it started me to thinking about my own blogging efforts. I have been blogging for over a year now, and maybe it is time to explain what I do here. So here goes. I am a REALTOR®, but I hope you wont hold this against me or stop you from visiting and revisiting

virginia: Tasting Wine in Virginia - 01/28/12 01:41 PM
OK no small talk this time let’s get down to business. In a previous blog I gave the description from the http://www.vawineclub.com newsletter about this merlot called EQUATION from Breaux Vineyards in Loudoun County, Virginia http://www.breauxvineyards.com . “The nose features dark cherry and plum undertones the medium licorice filled attack leads to an anise mid palate that cascades to a memorable lingering finish with tobacco and dark coca.” EQUATION - Merlot by Breaux Vineyards Honestly I really tried sip after sip and glass after glass, but I guess my uneducated palate didn’t even come close to the description above. I can see already I need

virginia: Virginia is Wine Country - 09/30/10 08:40 AM
Who needs California when we have access to a great selection of vineyards in Virginia? Why in the Charlottesville area alone there are over 30 Wineries. With the economy like it is more and more of us are staying close to home for our vacations. Why not take a trip through our wine country and enjoy the tastes of Virginia Wine. It will be good for you and great for the Virginia economy. Another idea is plan out a few weekend trips and visit what our state has to offer. If you are a wine connoisseur and like wine related events why

virginia: What Do Home Buyers and Sellers Want? - 09/07/10 10:03 AM
A few years ago I ask this questions, and I am still asking it today. I am really serious about this, and would like to open a dialog asking anyone that is thinking about purchasing or selling a home or has bought or sold a home in the past to respond. It doesn't matter if you live in Virginia or another part of the country the questions could most likely be appied in all areas of the country. This would be a great forum to address any concerns or questions that you may have. Maybe you have a questions that you have

virginia: Exploring Wine in Virginia - 08/26/10 12:23 PM
Let me provide a short update for those that haven’t visited this blog previously. I am not a wine expert by any means. My lovely wife is the reason I started this section on wines. She, being the wonderful partner she is, provided me with a membership to the Virginia Wine of the Month Club this past Fathers Day. That started the adventure of relating my tasting experience each month. Over the past three months I have been having a lot of fun with it. For past articles go to the drop down menu on the right that says Select Topic

virginia: What!!!! Buy a Home Now?? - 08/26/10 12:02 PM
It seems that almost everyone now understands that the real estate market has cooled. Analyst are implying that if you didn't get into the market before the boom it's no use investing now. WHY? Again I ask Why? When you get down to it and talk with real estate professional in the local market you may get an entirely different response. True the real estate market has cooled off even in the Charlottesville, Virginia area, but the real estate market has always been cyclical. Supply and demand may change in the local market, but the feeling is that real estate is

virginia: Market Beginning to Shift Up in Charlottesville - 03/12/09 09:34 AM
I don't know about the rest of Virginia, but the market here in Charlottesville seems to be picking up a little bit of steam. The number of contracts coming into my office has shown a surprising increase in February and March is showing promise. Buyers seem to be getting off of the fence with the low interest rates and more sellers pricing their homes properly. In the Charlottesville, Virginia area now is the time for buyers to stop watching the national news and jump over that fence. With interest rates in the 4% range they should take the plunge. It is

virginia: Virginia Real Estate Markets - 03/07/08 12:38 PM
While I was looking for a little information for a training class for my agents I ran across an informational brochure on the VAR Virginia Association of REALTOR® web site. If you are located in Virginia you should take a look at this flyer. It is on the home page today on the lower left side. http://www.varealtor.com/ The title is 10 Things You should know about today's Virginia real estate markets. It makes some really great point. I actually took the time to download it and emailed it to all of my agents. It is a great piece to add to their presentation folders. Take a look and

virginia: Spring Market is here. - 02/17/08 07:15 AM
Hello all. Sorry I have been away so long. I have acquired new responsibilities that started the first of the year, and this has kept me busy almost every waking hour. I am now the Managing Broker for a 70 agent office here in Charlottesville, Virginia. So my time is now my own any longer. However, I am still taking care of my personal past clients. Last Sunday I was called by a past client that I helped find a home in 2001. They are now relocating to Ohio and wanted me to list there home. Of course I was more than happy to

virginia: Pod Casting - Does it really work? - 11/20/07 12:41 PM
I may be behind the times, but over the past 6 months I have seen more information concerning Pod Casting. I have read a little on it, but admit that I am very lacking in my knowledge of this concept. There is a lot of information out there on how to get started, but I would really like to hear from someone out there that is using this successfully and not trying to sell me something. In my area Charlottesville, Virginia I do not personally know anyone that is working with this technology. Maybe there is and it works so well that

virginia: Lost Child Story With Happy Ending from Wintergreen, Virginia - 11/12/07 01:17 PM
As most of you know I live in a mountain community called Wintergreen located in Central Virginia just west of Charlottesville, Virginia. This past Saturday evening a young boy (8 years old) was visiting the resort with his parents. While taking a hike with his parents. Near the end of the walk as they were getting close to their rental cottage he stated that he was going to run ahead a little ways. When his parents arrived just a short while later he was nowhere to be found. Of course after walking up and down the trail calling his name for a while his

For those of you that have been enjoying my nature & bear photos here are a couple of new ones. Most of you are aware that we live in a community called Wintergreen in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but for those new to the blog this development is about 40 minutes west of Charlottesville, Virginia.
