green: Green stimulus package - 01/26/08 12:14 PM

Green is non-partisan.
Green is good for the country, the world, our kids, and our financial health as individuals, families, and a nation.
For the next few weeks we will hear Congress and the President debating about how much money to give back to us as part of an economic stimulus program. Part of the package they are discussing is a long needed reform to increase the conforming level for loans, a real boost for our industry, especially in states with high priced housing. Making It Right is a wonderful idea for rebuilding New Orleans Lower 9th Ward. The Pink Project's concept of building 150 eco friendly homes is a brilliant way to combine reconstruction with education about the planet's ecological and climate balance. The web site illustrates many specifics of the New Orleans design and appliance decisions. The designers made some very good choices for homes that have to be both affordable and sustainable. For today's market they are doing exactly the right thing.
