I got this ad recently based on attending a convention for Mortgage Brokers. The objective of the ad is clearly two-fold: to mock others' marketing systems and to promote their own marketing system. I'm quite sure there are similar ads regularly sent to Realtors as well... just with a Realtor-specific message.
I don't think they "get it" when it comes to efficient and effective marketing.
They're right, to a degree: People who are looking to refinance/buy/sell aren't interested in our expertise in the kitchen, nor our sports conquests, or gardening skills... they want to know about price, features, and service … (5 comments)

There's not a better way to close out your July 4th weekend than with the Blood:Water Mission Benefit concert with Shane and Shane. The concert and everything but the food are FREE. Avalon Park is having a HUGE community yard sale this Saturday (April 12th) & Sunday (April 13th) from 8am until 2pm. There are 56 houses signed up at the moment, but probably many more will participate.

According to this article in the Orlando Business Journal, everyone who goes to Chick-Fil-A on March 12th, 19th, and 26th and repeats the phrase: "I can take the heat," will be entitled to one of their new spicy chicken sandwiches for free. It's not clear if this is restricted to Orlando stores, Florida stores, or if it's nationwide.

These pilots had to have had steady hands and cool heads about them as they tried to land yesterday in Germany with severe crosswinds. The wing actually scraped the runway but the pilots aborted the landing, circled and landed safely.
This is like working with an experienced consultant in a challenging situation. Sometimes the outcome looks grim but a steady hand and a cool head prevail, and you land safely where you need to be.

I just ran across an article in a blog titled, "15 Reasons Mister Rogers Was the Best Neighbor Ever." What an inspiration!

According to these two articles, this foreclosure proceeding has been going on since the owner, Joe Lents, stopped paying on his mortgage back in 2002!
He doesn't dispute owing the money, he claims he just wants to be sure he's paying it to the rightful Lender.
Defending himself has, so far, cost more the $120,000. But he's still winning the cases, or at least delaying a negative outcome.
He was a retired CPA leading a software company that was charged by the SEC with a "pump-and-dump" scheme - in which he lost money. As a result of that charge, he lost his job and subsequently could no longer pay the mortgage on his … (6 comments)

I just saw this "news" report, and it reminded me to be grateful for our weather here in Florida. It was posted this past Saturday by a lady in Janesville, Wisconsin and said in part:
Here's some happy news: The owner of a 20-by-30 foot driveway has shoveled 8.9 tons of snow this winter.
No kidding. That's 17,774 pounds of snow.
And here's some even happier news: On Sunday, we're getting more snow.

I keep meaning to post things on my blogs, but frequently get stymied by my internal Editor-Proofreader.
Having been raised to be hyper-critical of everything, always looking for errors that need to be corrected, I find myself (in the words of one of my college professors) suffering from "creative constipation."
I don't want to let anything out unless it's perfect.
The problem is, rarely (if ever) is anything I do "perfect." So, I end up rarely (if ever) creating things... music, woodwork, landscaping, papers, books, or... blog entries. Nothing's ever "good enough" to let it out.
I even struggle with doing drafts of work.

They announced a 3/4% drop in both the Funding rate and the Discount rate prior to the opening of the market. And the prognosticators are discussing the possibility that when the Federal Reserve meets for their regular meeting next week, they might drop rates another 0,25% as they wrap up their 2-day meeting.
Whether or not they drop another 1/4%, this is already very good news for borrowers.
Those that are looking to buy, just got a wonderful late Christmas present (or Hanukkah if you prefer!) They can get the same home for lower monthly payments.

Here in Central Florida the housing market has been flat to struggling. Home prices have dropped a bit (about 6% over the past year), but nothing disastrous. Many sellers are holding out for top dollar, hoping to get as much or more for their home as they paid for it a year or two ago. Many buyers are holding out for bottom dollar, hoping to get a "steal" on a house by paying no more than 50-80% of its current appraised value. This has created a standoff, where the inventory of unsold homes has increased.
