Clayton Cancels Fourth Of July Fireworks. - 04/30/10 07:17 AM
Clayton NC, Cancels Fourth Of July Fireworks... Saves Town $32,000. I commend the Town Of Clayton for making this unpopular decision, but it shows the town is being careful with tax dollars it does not have. Due to budget shortfalls the money was simply not there. It would have cost the town approx $32,000, a figure that could be used for many other purposes. Fireworks last 20 Minutes and so that is not a good return on your investment. There is a wave of savings and coupon clipping and people tightening their belts across the country and it's good that towns and (3 comments)
Edenton is located a short distance from the town of Clayton, it is close to the Hwy 64 Bypass which provides fast access to Raleigh, Research Triangle Park and Raleigh Durham International Airport. The homes are a mix of two story traditional and ranch plans. Homes range in size from 1800 to 2300 square feet. The lots range in size from half an acre up to 2 acres (0 comments)
There is a lot of activity going on at Portofino in Clayton, the magnificent development of beautiful homes on over 350 acres. We held a Builder meeting at the Red Roof House (Inn) and we were shown the designs for the newest phase which started this week. The Farmhouse homes were designed by Cider House Studio, Inc, the brother, sister team of Holley and Brandon Carpenter. they have created a great set of floor plans designed with the outdoors in mind. They have not been finalized yet and as (2 comments)
It's not every town that can provide the residents and that of the surrounding area with a facility like the new Clayton Community Center. My hat is off to the Mayor and the Town Councilors and the many town employees who put this together.
The building is ultra modern with two studios one the second floor, one is for art classes and the other is a pottery studio complete with kiln and pottery (2 comments)
These homes are built by Homecraft Properties a local custom builder who builds first rate homes typically on large wooded lots. The homes being built by Homecraft will normally have extensive hardwood floors, big two car garages, upgraded cabinets and some of the best floor plans out there.
The subdivision is located in the growing area of Archer Lodge, Clayton and Wendell, (2 comments)

Normally the Parade of Homes is held in the Fall, but the Home Builders of Johnston County had the smart idea to switch to a Spring Parade which is the traditional buying period. The homes in this years parade are some of the best yet, the attention to detail is evident in most and there are some different options like Palmetto Place, Tuscany, and an incredible (2 comments)
Some Encouraging Words - A Look Ahead - 04/10/10 07:50 PM
I think this positive outlook on what's ahead is a breath of fresh air. Here is an interesting piece from Eleanor Thorne that explains that the future will be bright, whatever you think! It made me think about my eight year old and my ten year old, they want to explore, build, destroy, make robots, fly, shoot,(sorry!) watch tadpoles, drive, visit Denmark!, make robots do stuff for them, spend summers with their cousins in Ireland, what care they for recession, we have no time for that!!!
