It's been a while in the making but the new shopping center across from Riverwood Athletic Club is open for business as of today. The Food Lion is the first store to open and today was opening day. As is to be expected the parking lot was full and there were deals to be had. The store is big and shiny and has nice wide aisles. The produce section looked good as did the meat section. This is the sales activity for the last three months in Riverwood Subdivision in Clayton. Riverwood is a planned subdivision with homes ranging from townhomes all the way up to executive custom built homes.

 
 
 
 
The development includes a fitness center with an indoor and outdoor pool, walking trails, fishing pond and both Riverwood Elementary and Riverwood Middle are located in the subdivision. So the Town of Clayton had decided to amend a town ordanence that would have made it an offense to allow your cat to stray off your property...as applies to dogs. Apparently cats were left out a long time ago when Johnston County applied the rule.

Clayton Area Schools Adding Two New High Schools, Johnston County Schools are building two new high schools to cope with the influx of students from the growth of the area.
There is a new school being built in the Cleveland area at 1892 Polenta Road, Clayton and another in Corinth Holders at 6875 Applewhite Road in Wendell. 

I have seen both of these schools and they look like they will have all the bells and whistles that go along with a brand new school.

Riverwood Athletic Club Subdivision in Clayton NC is one of the larger subdivisions in Clayton. It is located about ten minutes from downtown. It is a planned community in that it has an elementary and middle school, shops, fitness center, swimming pool,creative learning center all within the subdivision.
