Suburbia SF Style?

A tract of 182 new construction homes in San Francisco? Believe it. After a decade of opposition, developers have broken ground on Summit 800 (formerly 800 Brotherhood Way). The project is located near Lake Merced and the San Francisco Golf Club, close to the Sunset District. The 7.7 acre parcel will have 182 homes, a mix of attached and detached homes, some with yards and all with a decidedly suburban feel.

Neighborhood groups have argued that the parcel had been set aside as public land in 1958, but after ten years the Board of Appeals ruled to move forward with the project. Over the next six months the first six to eight homes will be built, after which the developer will continue to build homes as fast as they can sell them. The marketing company for the project says they are excited for this type of property to be built in the City, which will give residents the space and yard of the suburbs combined with the convenience of city living.
