Overall property prices showed some softening during May, with the total number of homes sold being 572 -  almost the same as in April.
 
Dennis Fimrite, the Victoria Real Estate Boards President commented that: "Sales so far this year are running nearly 21% behind last year's levels. It's important to remember, however, that the first 6 months of last year were very active and sales slowed considerably over the summer and into fall."

2010 was a year where sales were strong in the early months, softened in the middle of the year, and then strengthened in the fall.
A total of 6,546 homes and other properties sold in 2010 - a decline of 19% compared to 2009 but almost the same number as the 6,519 sales in 2008. The value of all property transactions through the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) system also declined by 14%.

Property Sales in August Follow Usual Summer Trend September 1, 2009
The number of property sales in the Greater Victoria area slowed during August but sales were again significantly higher than a year ago. Prices, meantime, remained stable with some increase for single family homes. A total of 764 homes and other properties sold in August through the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®), down from the 933 sales in July but up 48 per cent compared to the 517 sales in August of last year.
