I love to wander around Chinatown, within in our beautiful city. It's vibrant - full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, languages and old buildings. How about this address?
This door is in Fan Tan Alley, a fascinating alleyway with glorious little entrances leading into curiosity shops! Take a look at this great virtual tour of the alley. The whole area is colourful, bustling and noisy, with neon lights, traffic, tourists and people from all walks of life - not at all like the rest of the Victoria downtown area, yet only a short walk from the Inner Harbour.

Come Listen to Classical Music at Willows Beach, Oak Bay, tomorrow, Friday, June 10
Everyone is invited to a free 90 minute concert by students from local Victoria, BC high schools tomorrow at the beach. They will be joined on stage by middle school and elementary school students. The students are also involved in the Mentorship Program together with students and professors from the University of Victoria School of Music. We're hoping for good weather and a good turnout, with the concert starting at 3:30 - 5:00. What a great way to have young people involved in classical music!

Real Estate Activity Picks up in the Greater Victoria Area in March
Property sales in Greater Victoria rose in March. A total of 622 homes and other properties sold in March through the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Multiple listing Service® (MLS®), up from the 488 sales in February. There were 789 sales in March of last year.

So ... last Wednesday I managed to arrange 2 days away from real estate to go skiing with my wife and son. Of course we were all really looking forward to this little break, but little did we know what was in store for us.

The number of homes and other properties sold throughout the Victoria area rose substantially in March compared to both the previous month and to March of last year. A total of 789 homes and other properties sold in March through the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®), up 27 per cent from the 621 sales in February. There were 602 sales in March of last year. Prices for single-family homes and condominiums rose moderately while prices for townhomes were mixed.

The number of homes and other properties sold throughout the Victoria surged in February compared to January and remained well above the number of sales in February of last year. A total of 621 homes and other properties sold in February through the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®), up from the 418 sales in January and 403 sales in February of last year.

The Royal couple, Charles and Camilla are visiting our beautiful city - they arrived late afternoon yesterday, and although Camilla admitted to being a bit jet-lagged they were "on show" for a few hours on the lawns of the Legislature. The crowds welcomed them and even though a lot of people couldn't care less about the Royal family, the people of Victoria always turn out to see and cheer them.

Our 85 year old Blue Bridge is causing heated discussion! At least it goes up and it goes down, which is more than most bridges do these days!
