Understanding the R-Value of the materials in your home can be very helpful in determining some of the ways you can efficiently insulate or update your home.  The first question to ask is will the added insulation or improvement actually have the desired energy saving effect.  Often times small simple fixes weather stripping of doors may be more significant and far less expensive that replacing windows.
It does serve as being a good steward of our resources to make your have as efficient as you can.  Check out this graph to find out the R-Value of products already in your home.

Lately my Northern Colorado real estate business has been quite active.  I have been able to work with several Buyers.  Many first time home buyers.  They all seem very interested in the opportunity for an $8000 tax credit.  Other folks are excited to relocate to the area and many of our listings need the proper attention as well.
On top of that my community and church involvement, I have been away from home quite a lot lately.

We hear alot of noise about this being a buyers market and that you can smell the blood in the water.  Well not so Fast!!
I have several buyers looking for homes or condos under 200K in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado.  At this price point the homes are disappearing faster and faster.  One couples search is becoming quite challenging.  They started their search this week, we found of the properties they picked 4 of 8 went under Contract this week.

Today Colorado State University is holding its annual housing fair.  Many student take the opportunity to Talk with several property management companies to concider rentals for the next school year.

This weekend I had the privelege to meet with two seperate couples, First time home buyers.   One couple Is ready jump in.  We looked at several homes that fit their needs.  They where quite concerned about the whole first-time buyers tax credit thing.  $8,000 dollars? tax credit: Why Now? First time home buyers. - 12/06/08 02:48 PM
I think a better question is "If not now, when?"
Now Is the time.  Why now if you are a first-time buyer?
Intrest rates are at very low levels.  Last week saw rates dip to 5%!  What that means is that with a loan balance of $150,000.00, at 5% interest The PI payment would be $806 per month*  But at 6% the PI due would be $900 per month*.  Check the Mortgage Calculator for yourself.
*  Please note this would not include the taxes and insurance.   It would not be uncommon at that value to be +/- $150 a month
