Q. What Areas Of My Home Should I Focus On To Protect My Investment And Maximize Its Value? - 07/31/07 06:04 PM
There's no doubt, your home is a substantial investment. So it makes sense to protect it to maximize its value. One way to do this is with regular maintenance. While many homeowners keep their homes spotless on the inside, they may not be aware of what needs to be done to the exterior or "structural" areas of their home. Here's a quick checklist of items you should inspect and maintain every six months. Your Roof. Climb up and look for damage. Flat roofs frequently show soft spots, or areas where there may be ponding - signs of potential leaks. Pitched (2 comments)
Errors On Credit Reports Causing Problems For Consumers - 07/31/07 06:02 PM
Don't trust your credit report! A recent study by Consumer Reports finds that nearly half of all credit reports contain errors. Paul Richard, author of a popular do-it-yourself credit guidebook and vice-president of the California-based National Center For Financial Education, recommends checking your credit report at least once a year. The Consumer Reports study found the credit reports received from three major credit-reporting bureaus - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion - contained errors with about the same frequency and degree of severity. More than half of these contained inaccuracies that could derail a loan or deflect an offer for the lowest-interest (1 comments)
The World As 100 People… - 07/30/07 07:17 PM
If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this... • 57 Asians • 27 Europeans • 14 from the Western Hemisphere (north & south) • 8 Africans • 52 would be female • 48 would be male • 70 would be non-white, 30 white • 70 would be non-Christian, 30 would be Christian • 89 would be heterosexual, 11 would be homosexual • 59% of the world's wealth would be in the hands of only six people and all six would be citizens of the U.S. • 80 would live in substandard housing • (7 comments)
The Job Interview… - 07/30/07 07:13 PM
"I see you were last employed by a psychiatrist," said the employer to the applicant. "Well," she replied, "I just couldn't win. If I was late, I was hostile. If I was early, I had an anxiety disorder. If I was on time, I was compulsive." It figures, no matter what you do you can't please some people. (0 comments)
How To Slash College Tuition Costs - 07/25/07 08:23 AM
Whether you're a parent sending your child to college or an adult wanting to return to college, there are great tips to help you afford the high cost of tuition. College costs are rising at a rate faster than inflation. In fact, tuition and fees at private schools now average $16,332 per year. And public schools average $3,510 per year. One of the easiest ways to cut the cost of college is to take advantage of several tax programs currently available. If you are paying tuition for yourself, your spouse, or a dependent you may be eligible for education tax credits. (1 comments)

Hello all, I have been active on AR for only a few weeks, so I have a question for all those that have spent time on this Blog. I want to know if anyone has developed business from participation on AR? If so, was the business from referrals from other professional members or business from consumers? Your responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. David Wakeman (3 comments)
The TRUE Value Of TIME… - 07/23/07 07:17 AM
We often forget how valuable our time is, until we see it all in perspective. Here's what I mean... To realize the value of one year, ask a student who has failed a final exam. To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby. To realize the value of one week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper. To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet. To realize the value of one minute, ask the person who has missed the train, bus, or plane. To realize the value of one second, (2 comments)
Famous Quotes About Taxes - 07/23/07 07:10 AM
No one will ever come up with a funny income tax joke. It does, however, lend itself to some wry humor... "There are two distinct classes of men...those who pay taxes, and those who receive and live upon taxes." (Thomas Paine) "The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax!" (Albert Einstein) "When there is an income tax, the just man will pay more and the unjust less on the same amount of income." (Plato) "The government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend upon the support of Paul." (George Bernard Shaw) "There is no art which one government sooner learns from another (1 comments)

Quote of the Day.... - 07/18/07 07:34 PM
"Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself." Og Mandino, Motivational Speaker (4 comments)
Get A Hot Mama! - 07/17/07 05:36 AM
An 87-year-old man went to the doctor to get a physical. A few days later, the doctor saw the man walking down the street with a gorgeous young lady on his arm. A couple days later, when the old man had an appointment with the doctor again, the doctor said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?" The man replied, "Just doing what you said doctor, get a hot mama and be cheerful." The doctor said, "I didn't say that! I said you've got a heart murmur, Be careful!! (2 comments)
Is Your Child Safe In CyberSpace? - 07/17/07 05:27 AM
They're on it every day. They communicate with their friends. They play games, download software, and they even talk to strangers-sometimes without knowing any better. The Internet is becoming an integral part of our children's lives. One day the Internet will play as central a role in their lives as the television or telephone does today. There are many opportunities for kids on-line from learning opportunities, entertainment, to personal growth-all available to those who "surf." But do you know the risks they put themselves and you at when they sign on-line? The challenge for parents is to educate themselves and their (3 comments)
Are Two Really Better Than One? - 07/16/07 07:36 PM
"How was your golf game dear?" asked Jack's wife. "Well, I was hitting it pretty well, but my eyesight's gotten so bad that I couldn't see where the ball went." "You're 75-years-old," admonished his wife, "why don't you take your brother Scott along?" "He's 85 and doesn't even play golf," protested Jack. "But he's got perfect eyesight and can tell you where the ball went," his wife pointed out. So the next day Jack teed-off with Scott watching. Jack swung and the ball disappeared down the fairway. "Did you see it?" asked Jack. "Yep," answered Scott. "Well, where is it?" (1 comments)

Insightful Quotation - 07/14/07 06:47 AM
"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Ralph Waldo Emerson (3 comments)

The Value of Dreams… - 07/13/07 03:25 PM
"We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them, nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true."
