Myers/Cape Coral have a median price of $229,900, a 15.59% increase; Miami is the leader with a 26.19% year over year increase and median prices at $265,000.   All in all good news for a change.

Good Evening....Here is yesterday's market update from the Think Big Work Small Guys.  The guys are having a discussion on the Ben Bernanky asking for help from the government by following the lead of Emerging Markets, and since low rates haven't helped he is asking for strong housing policies to help the housing market , which in turn helps the economy. All this would be good if Ben didn't follow the old saying of "do as I say not as I do".

Good Morning…Here is today’s  report from the Think Big Work Small Guys.  Today the boys are talking about the correlation between Unemployment and Foreclosures.  In 1984 unemployment was 10%, foreclosures at 2%, and interest rates were at 14.5%, when in recent years unemployment has jumped 5 to 10% and foreclosures have jumped 5 to 10% both keeping pace with each other, while interest rates are at an all time low.  Our housing market problems have more to do with the state of our overall economy.  I found the discussion interesting.

Good Morning…Here is today’s  report from the Think Big Work Small Guys.  Today the boys are talking about the Federal Reserve boss, Ben, commenting on the housing market and how in the past it would lead the economy out of a recession; It is not happening in this market.  If Ben would loosen up the ristiction on credit and housing, the housing market could function like it was meant to.

Good Morning…Here is today’s  report from the Think Big Work Small Guys.  Today's conversations center around the Budget talks conception of not raising taxes by taking away Mortgage Interest deductions; even though this will take $200 billion out of our pockets to fund the governments inability to balance their budget, it will hurt the housing market drastically.  This, along with increased closing fees and upcoming conforming loan limits will do nothing to get us back on track.

Today the Think Big Work Small guys discuss a statement from Sandy Braunstein to the Feds concerning compensation and bonuses to loan officers.  The statement is ambiguous and open to interpretation.  A bill being put forth my congressman Gary Miller could help with competition in loan prices and help stabilize the housing market.  Both the statement by Sandy Braunstein and this proposed bill could neutralize the destructiveness of the Frank - Dodd Bill.

housing market: Realtors Meeting With BP - 07/11/10 02:59 AM
Aren't we ever going to see and end to this situation. A meeting was held in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. yesterday with Realtors expressing they're frustration over the effect of the oil spill on business.  From what I read on floridarealtors.org, even though BP stated they would pay for lost contracts due to the spill, none have been paid.  John Harrell, president of Bay County Associationof Realtors, said "he knows 50 people who have filed claims, and none of them have been paid".  BP's statement of the claims process was "it is a complicated process and there is no cookie-cutter answer".  I guess this means Realtors … (12 comments)

housing market: CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM - 06/22/10 11:23 AM
I just listened to the CEO of Century 21, Rick Davidson, give his cautious optimistic explanation of why this is the Right Time To Buy.  These are the high points that caught my attention.
Yes, the housing market had a 2.2% decrease in May but it is not a reason to panic, it's the annual numbers that are important, not month to month percentages.
Housing sales are up 18% over last year at this time with home prices showing a 4% increase.  Homes are more affordable today over last year.  80% of the public still think this is still a good time to buy a home even … (2 comments)
