I want to comment on the issue of Road Rage lately, I have had two incidences this week where two different woman decided I must have agitated them somehow that they felt it was ok to flip me the bird and scream who knows what from inside their vehicles!
One was at a stop sign it was my turn to go and I was going to turn left, but the lady across from me decided she was going to go, so I stopped and let her go with out drama or anything and the next thing I know she is waving here unfriendly finger at me and yelling something that I couldn’t hear and wouldn’t want to know anyway.
The other was the next day, I was going to change lanes, so I signaled and started to switch lanes & as I was I caught out of my side mirror a car racing up to me, so I quickly went back into my lane and let her pass & sure enough she gave me the finger (the naughty one). I ignored her & stayed in my lane, as soon as we got to the next light she sure enough she was hollering something at me, I just looked away without giving her a reaction. So she started to roll her window down & my daughter (and YES my three kids were with me both times) yelled mom go she is going to throw something at you-luckily the light had changed so I accelerated and moved to the outer lane to get away from her. We were all shocked at how angry & crazy some ppl are becoming for no reason. I mean what makes her think that she can throw something at my car?! Since when did the diving skills of others become personal to some?!
Then yesterday my daughter came home from school & told me how her teacher was reading an article about a woman who got sentenced to 2 years in prison for throwing a cup of ice at some ppl in a car that ticked her off....I was like see ppl need to chill!
Check out the article By Theresa Vargas with The Washington Post – Published: Monday, February 19, 2007 if you want to: http://www.registerguard.com/news/2007/02/19/a4.nat.mcmissile.0219.p1.php?section=nation_world
I think that the sentence was way too steep. I plan on (if it happens again) just smiling nicely and waving at the person & hopefully (well hopefully it doesn’t happen again-I mean two in one week come on! And I did go over it in my head making sure I didn’t provoke them & I didn’t!) Kindness will overcome their anger & calm them down....who knows we will see. I do know I will not stoop to the level they are at-what good can come out of that...shoot see what happened to the mother of three in the article!
Love can over come all things! I believe in killing it with kindness!
