New Real Estate Search Engine - Add Your Site Free - 02/28/08 10:55 AM
This is a nicely done free real estate search engine that you may want to submit your site to. I couldn't figure out how to do so, however, so I emailed them, and this was the response: Thanks for getting in touch. If you have a feed in XML format (like Google Base or Trulia format) then simply make it available for us to download at some URL. This is the fastest way to go live. Alternatively, we'll crawl your site as soon as we can. However, given the overwhelming response we've had already, we're forced to crawl agents & brokers in (23 comments)
Negative Keywords for Real Estate PPC - 02/26/08 12:14 PM
If you are using Pay per Click (PPC) advertising, you should be using negative keywords in your campaigns and/or Ad Groups. Negative keywords are words and phrases that, when used in a search, you don't want your ads to show up for. When you add negative keywords to your PPC campaigns your ads will not be served if those words are part of the user’s search query. These words will not only benefit you by saving money on wasted clicks, they will also improve the click through rate (CTR) of your keywords/ads, and a higher CTR can decrease the cost of (16 comments)
WordPress Guide Series - 02/22/08 09:54 AM
Do you know how your WP blog works, what files to put where, and how to upgrade to the latest WordPress version? Read the first installment of WordPress Guide posts to learn how to install your blog to an existing web site, how to upgrade it without messing anything up, and what should be in the various files. This looks like it will be a great series to follow, so I made sure I was subscribed to the feed. ~ From SEO Diva

Last Day to Buy SEO Book - 02/19/08 10:30 AM
Per my previous post, Aaron Wall is taking the SEO Book off the market. I received an email from him last night, and today is the last day you can purchase the book. At $79 it isn't cheap, but at the same time an SEO specialist will charge you $150 an hour, and with the huge amount of information this book includes, it's money well spent. It industry circles, it's considered the SEO Bible. (3 comments)
Another 'Do Follow' Blog Directory - 02/18/08 06:16 PM
The link below will take you to another 'Do Follow' blog directory. This link goes directly to the real estate category, since I was feeling especially helpful today. Do Follow Blog Directory - Real Estate Category I really like the interface of this directory - it gives the name of the blog, page rank, and a short description. You can also submit your own blog to the directory by clicking on "Submit Link." If you give them a reciprocal link, your link will be featured. Also posted on SEO Diva. (15 comments)
Become Successful by Helping Others - 02/17/08 07:52 PM
From SEO Diva One of the keys to being successful in the social media space is to get involved, extend yourself, and help others. ‘Social’ means relating to human society and its members. When you join one or more social media groups, be it Stumbleupon, Facebook, Squidoo, Zimbio, or Digg, to name just a few of the many that are online, you’re expected to give before you get. Estaban Panzera (a rising star to keep your eye on) has a blog article with tips from Social Media Marketers, in which Neil Patel says, “Participate in the community before you try and leverage (16 comments)
SEO Book - Get It While It's Still On The Market - 02/14/08 02:09 PM
From SEO Diva . Aaron Wall is changing his business model to a paid private forum. It appears he will also remove his SEO Book from distribution, or alternatively will raise the price considerably. If you're interested in his book, but have been holding off, I suggest you purchase it now for $79. It's a steal at that price - the knowledge you gain will be priceless. For Free SEO Tips visit his site, and register. He is currently offering a free email series, 7 Days to Search Engine Success, which is focused toward those who are new to SEO, but (18 comments)
You Can Syndicate Your Blog - 02/12/08 08:25 PM
According to Google, if you syndicate an article (or blog post) you can place it on another site without penalty. The key to doing this is to link back to the original source of the article from the syndicated spot. I've been testing this for a few weeks. I've been posting to SEO Diva first, then placing the same post on Active Rain with a link back to Seo Diva. I then have Zimbio ping my blogs, and delete the AR version in favor of the Diva. The reason I post to my Diva blog first is because she needs Page Rank (15 comments)
Just dashing in and out, with a quick link for you to check out. Leapfrogg has a terrific article on How to Write Terrible Meta Tags - which is really all about how to write great meta tags. It's beginner level, so if you haven't mastered your title or description tags this is a must read! They reiterate what all SEO's know but a lot of people don't get - your title tag has mega importance, and if you don't get that one thing right, you've damaged your entire SEO campaign. (6 comments)
Social Media Mogul Poll - 02/05/08 04:37 PM
Are you a social media mogul? Have you LinkedIn, Facebooked, Ninged, Twittered, Zimbio'd and Squidoo'd? Is Craigslist a personal friend, do you check Feedburner hourly, and do you Plaxo daily? There are so many social network sites, so many ways to tweet and twitter about your blog, site, or product. It's really hard to get it with some of them, much less keep up with them all. So eventually it's time to choose the ones you do get, that seem to bring in the traffic, and importantly, that you enjoy. What works best for you? Go to SEO Diva to (10 comments)
Twitter Tweet - 02/04/08 08:14 PM
From SEO Diva I am not a Twitter-er. Correction - I was not a Twitter-er. However, after Seth Godin’s faux pas in not claiming his name in Twitter and thereby opening himself up to a faux Seth Godin twit, I decided it was time to give in and start tweeting er… twittering. Does this mean I must notify everyone on my TwitterList when I’m eating lunch, or feeling down, or vacuuming? Will they TwitterBack to give me menu suggestions, cheer me up, or offer to come over and dust? I have to admit I don’t totally get it, but since I’m supposed (9 comments)
Confused by WordPress? - 02/03/08 02:57 PM
I don't know about you, but when I first started using WordPress for my SEO Diva blog, I got pretty confused as to where to go to change what. It isn't the most intuitive platform I've ever used. Even now, after 6 months of using it, I sometimes forget where to make changes. So I am pretty pleased to have found this cheat sheet for WordPress. If you copy the image to your computer, and then print it out, you'll be able to refer to it whenever you get lost in the world of WP. If you don't get a clear (15 comments)
Go Long-Tail Go! - 02/01/08 05:55 PM
From SEO Diva Stats from the horse's mouth: The average Google query now consists of 4 words 14% of Google click come from paid search - 86% from organic 25% of Google's user queries are unique* Reported by Beu Blog Hmmm, gives long-tail keywords new value. How do you optimize for long-tail? Content. This may seem counter to my previous posts, but it's not. Content is not the be-all and end-all (i.e. King) of SEO, but it does have an important place in search engine optimization. It all works together...don't ignore one facet of optimization for another. Onsite, offsite, off (13 comments)
Use Social Networks to Promote Your RSS Feed - 02/01/08 02:31 PM
From SEO Diva I discovered great a blog post on RSS from WordPress Web 2.0 Spot-Er, and found the bottom half of the post to be of greatest interest to me. Be sure to check out the blog for the entire post and more info, but below are excerpts of how to bring a steady flow of traffic to your blog using social networks. 1. Claim Your Blog On Technorati. This step should be obvious… Create an account and claim your blog. 2. Join Blogcatalog and submit your blog. Once your blog is approved, your feed will be displayed on your profile (16 comments)
Duplicate Content Clarification from Google Guru - 02/01/08 10:51 AM
Matt Cutts offers a clarification of duplicate content on his blog this morning. If you have any confusion about that you may want to give it a quick read. Something I have been doing recently is posting my SEO Diva blog posts to Active Rain (it's too hard to provide regular content for both), with a referral link to the Diva site. It constitutes syndicated content, and because I post it on the Diva blog first, it should get the credit for having the original content. The link from AR to the original post shows the search engine that that's where I want (8 comments)
