FEMA Offices Open In Flemington NJ Today

So many of us have suffered loss from Hurricane Irene, there are many of us who continue to pick up the pieces of our home and businesses even now. I am launching a Blog Campaign to get the word out about available help across the state. FLEMINGTON — The third of three local Federal Emergency Management Agency Disaster Recovery Centers to be activated in the wake of Hurricane Irene is slated to open this morning at the Hunterdon County Complex, 314 Route 12 in the borough, FEMA representative Linda Downing said Tuesday.

The center, which joins others in Somerville and Cranford that opened last week, will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week and will remain open “until the state tells us to close it,” Downing said.

At the centers, local residents can:

receive information about state and federal disaster assistance.

get help completing applications for U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations.

inquire about the status of applications for federal assistance.

receive referrals to voluntary organizations to help with immediate unmet needs.

learn cost-effective measures to reduce the impact of future disaster losses.

Residents are urged to register before visiting any Disaster Recovery Center.

There are two ways to register: visit www.disasterassistance.gov or m.fema.gov, or call FEMA’s toll-free number 800-621-3362, which is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

To register for disaster assistance with FEMA, applicants must provide a valid Social Security number, the address of the damaged home or apartment, a description of the damage, information about insurance coverage, a current contact telephone number, an address where mail can be received, and bank account and routing numbers if direct deposit of any financial assistance is desired.

Visit http://asd.fema.gov/inter/locator/ home.htm to find the closest Disaster Recovery Center.

More than 15,000 New Jersey residents already have filed claims with FEMA seeking help paying for damage from Hurricane Irene, and all 21 counties have been declared major disaster areas.

Residents have 60 days from the time a disaster was declared to file for federal aid.

The first declaration was Aug. 31.

Westfield Builder Wins Statewide Award

I wanted to pass the new brief along because I think it is SO important to recognise professionals succeding in their business. So many of my clients have suffered and thrown money down the drain with unqualfied contractos and builders. I have not personally worked with Michael Robert Construction but I have seen their work. I was unaware until I read his article that they also work on Green Projects, which is close to my heart. Kudos to You Michael Robert Construction.

Michael Robert Construction, a Westfield based home construction company owned by Michael Mroz, won an award and was a finalist for another during the Community Builders and Remodelers Association of New Jersey awards dinnert last month.

The company won first place in the special feature room renovation category for work in constructing an entertainment and media room in the basement of a local home. The company also was a finalist in the remodeled kitchen under $10,000 category. The kitchen honors came for work in remodeling a local kitchen.

Mroz, a Westfield High School alum, founded the company in 2003. He also works on green energy projects through another local company.
