first friday on main: TOUR D' OCONEE OTHERWISE KNOWN AS "TAME THE LION" BIKE RIDE - 05/04/11 10:11 AM

This Saturday, May 7, will be the first Tour d'Oconee bike ride, otherwise known as "Tame the Lion" due to the shape of the map outline.
Sponsored by the Oconee County Cycling Organization, the ride will depart from Rocket Field (200 2nd St.) in downtown Watkinsville, GA at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. There will also be shorter options of 15, 25 and 35 miles and great SAG stops, so everyone can participate. The whole town is excited about the ride and there will be live entertainment at Watkinsville's First Friday celebration on Friday evening starting at 6:00 p.m.

The 4th of July celebration in Watkinsville, GA kicks off on Friday evening with First Friday on Main featuring a free art tour from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The Art Tour includes OCAF (Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation) on School St., Art Masters Gallery & Framing on N. Main, Sunshine Village, Main Street Gallery, C. Allee Studio & Gallery, Chappelle Gallery on S. Main, Emma Laura, Weber Photography & Design and Side Street Beads. first friday on main: First Friday on Main in Watkinsville - 09/08/08 11:51 AM

On Friday I took our visitine out-of-town friend to the First Friday on Main in Watkinsville to see what was going on. Although there weren't as many people downtown as I have seen in the past, probably due to the fact that there were several high school football games Friday night.

However, there were a lot of events for children, including 2 trains, arts and craft activities, a rock climbing wall, moonwalk and other activities.
