city of governors: City of Governors - Olathe, Kansas 150th Birthday Celebration - 08/21/07 10:07 PM
Olathe, Kansas and the next of the twelve boot sculptures is called the "City of Governors".  These boot sculptures are celebrating Olathe's 150th Birthday.
This boot sculpture was designed by Elaine Lierly Jones from Gardner, Kansas and it's display celebrates the five governors how lived in Olathe.  Thus the City of Governors!  Detail is provided of these men in realistic, nostalgic portraits.  At the lower section of the boot provides portraits of street scenes of the early days of Olathe.  In 1961, John Anderson, Jr, the Governor of Kansas, outfitted the other 49 governors with the famous Hyer boots made here in … (2 comments)
