DC Tax Credit - STILL in effect ! - 01/31/11 05:15 PM
 
Long gone is the Federal Tax Credit for 1st Time buyers; which expired last year. HOWEVER; the District of Columbia still offers a $5,000 tax credit to anyone who has not owned a main home in the District during the one-year period ending on the date of purchase.
At the end of last year, Congress renewed the $5,000 DC home-buyer tax credit for another 2 years.  The DC tax incentive will be retroactive for 2010 and continue through 2011.  It has been extended many times since it started in 1997 and of course the hope is that this will continue...

Current Number of Homes Active and Under Contract in the Washington DC area:
Here is the breakdown as of January 24th, 2011
 
Inventory is down from the same time last year in DC and Arlington County; while Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties have seen an increase in inventory.  All areas have less homes under contract than the same time last year.
Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.

Why can't I get a return call? - 01/15/11 04:19 PM
One of my biggest pet peeves is getting other Real estate agents to return phone calls. Last Friday (today is Thursday), I called an agent to show a listing he had for sale. My client wanted to see it, along with others on Saturday. I leave 2 messages and hear nothing back. He calls me back today. 6 days later asking if we still wanted to see it. I told him no, as we found something else. Is this really how this agent represents his clients? By returning calls 6 days later? Incredible. … (11 comments)

Reducing your junk mail - 01/12/11 09:47 AM
How can I reduce all the junk?  What about the junk I sometimes want?  You know- every 100 times I see that ad for the flowers or the chocolates; I think - OH YES - a sale - and I know just who to send them to!
But then there are the 100s of other junk emails I get that I dont care about.
Well New Years Resolution #1 is to start hitting "unsubscribe" more; instead of delete.  Yes it takes and extra 30 seconds; but if I can reduce all that junk.. it's worth it.
