It's no secret that housing has been through a tough period. The turbulent economy of the past few years has led to some fundamental misconceptions about how real estate works as an investment, along with a loss of confidence in the value of home ownership.

Skanska USA announced on Friday that it would turn a pair of single-family homes-turned business into a 5-story Class A office building in Rosslyn at 1776 Wilson Boulevard. The self-financed project will turn one of the increasingly scarce development cavities on Arlington's main boulevard into 108,000 s.f. of office with a full ground floor of retail, designed to meet LEED Gold standards. Skanska says demolition of the existing buildings will take place within the next few months. Washington DC Real Estate NEWS - 09/20/10 01:03 PM
Maryland's home foreclosure rate last month fell 30.2 percent from July and 11.5 percent from August 2009, according to new data from RealtyTrac of Irvine, Calif. With one filing per 480 households, Maryland's rate was the 15th highest in the U.S. The national rate of one filing per 381 households was up 4.2 percent from July, but down 5.5 percent from a year earlier.
Prince George's again had the highest rate in the state in August, with one filing per 248 households. But that was down 38.3 percent from July and 20.5 percent from August 2009.
