It's a Mountain Dog thing... you wouldn't understand.

Meet Miss Maude. Maude is a Chow-mix my husband and I adopted in Savannah, GA ten years ago. Maude is a lucky mountain dog now, living in the Vail Valley of Colorado. She loves being a mountain dog, and thanks her lucky stars with all that fur she didn’t get stuck in the hot, humid south. She even gets to go to work with her “mom and dad” on occasion.

At the office today, Maude begged me to head out into Vail Village to sport her new leash, a Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate logo leash. Maude loves being a mountain dog so much that if she could talk, I swear she’d sell a house a week. No one could resist her tales of how great the mountain lifestyle is!

With Vail Mountain's opening day less than one week away, we are all pretty excited about the ribbon cutting ceremony of Vail’s new gondola “One.” All summer long, we’ve watched as they took out the old Vista Bahn chair lift in the heart of Vail Village. And what excitement to watch helicopters fly through our valley taking out the towers and replacing with the new gondola.

We awoke today to a fresh blanket of snow in Vail and Beaver Creek, and everyone has smiles on their faces. Whether you ski, snowboard, telemark, snow shoe, ice skate… (what am I missing here!?) this time of year always gets the adrenaline pumping!

"Hike Wine and Dine" Fundraiser for Jack's Place this Sunday 9/23/12

This Sunday I will be volunteering at one of the most beatiful hiking and dining fundraisers the Vail Valley has to offer. “Hike, Wine & Dine” will take place this Sunday, September 23 at Beaver Creek Mountain. This easy 4-mile hike through the golden colored Aspen groves of Beaver Creek is a great way to spend your Sunday morning. You’ll be treated to food and drink along the way from some of Beaver Creek’s restaurants, and finish with dessert and wine and fellowship at the end.

All proceeds will benefit Jack’s Place, a cancer caring home and Shaw Regional Cancer Center. Here's their video from last year's hike:

Join us on Sunday, September 23th for a unique and easy four mile hike at the peak of Beaver Creek’s aspen season. Vail Valley Theatre Company Sets the Stage for “Company”

I couldn’t be more excited to announce that I’ll be appearing in the Vail Valley Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company”. One of my favorite musicals of all time, “Company” explores the life of single, 35-year old, Bobby and his relationships with his three girlfriends and his 10 best friends, 5 married couples.

The music is fantastic, complicated, and quite simply genius. (This is Sondheim after all!) All of the characters are uniquely developed and each bring a different perspective on what it means to be in a relationship.

Vail Real Estate Luxury Home Market Sees Increased Activity

The Vail Real Estate market hit the front page in the local Vail Daily newspaper today with the following headline:

The article interviews local real estate brokers to gain their sense of activity here in the Vail Valley, which in my opinion is up from last year and way up from 2009-2010. The buyers who have been waiting for the market to “hit bottom” are realizing the great properties are disappearing from the inventory. And with listing prices leveling and currently not increasing, now is a great time to buy.

Real estate brokers and locals alike that I’ve spoken to this summer all agree the Vail Valley, despite the economic recession, is still an amazing place to live, visit, and enjoy the Colorado mountain lifestyle. With Vail Resorts continually investing in the level of excellence on their mountains; Epic Mix, the new gondola in Vail, hiking and biking trail maintenance and many other improvements, the lifestyle experience here is always top notch.

Though I’ve personally seen buyer activity increase in many areas of the market here in the Vail Valley this year, the luxury market is where I’ve noticed it most. During the dark days of the recession, the activity in the higher-end sales was practically non-existent. Not only was no one buying, no one was looking either. Today we’re seeing buyers look aggressively and in some cases compete with multiple offers on homes.

I look forward to reporting more sales from the increased activity this summer. If you love the Vail Valley as much as me, and are considering purchasing a mountain home for your family to enjoy, now is the time to get out there and make it happen!

The Vail Valley Theatre Company Presents:

"Picasso at the Lapin Agile" by Steve Martin

Anyone ready for some comedy? Then get your tickets to the upcoming Vail Valley Theatre Company’s production of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile” by Steve Martin. (ps- I’m in the show!)

The play takes place in 1904 at The Lapin Agile, a bar in Paris, where Picasso and Einstein have a meeting of the minds and much much more. It’s a time to reflect, compete and predict how art and science will influence the coming 20^th century. When these concepts are coming straight from the “wild and crazy” mind of Steve Martin, the audience is in for a wild ride for sure.

The cast and crew have been such a pleasure to work with during the last three weeks of rehearsals. Tonight is our final dress rehearsal with the first performance tomorrow, April 20 at 7:30pm. The show will be performed at Montaña’s After Dark in Avon, CO April 20-21 & 27-28. Be sure to arrive early, grab some food and libations at Montaña’s, and head upstairs for the show.

Tickets available online $20 www.vvtc.org or $25 at the door. With only 65 seats a night, I encourage you to get your tickets ahead of time.
