What is your take on "Feng Shui"? - 07/31/07 11:21 PM
I'm a great proponent of Home Staging, but I'm on the fence about Feng Shui. I believe I understand the basic concepts of Feng Shui. You create positive energy and balance in an environment through the careful placement of objects that represent "Feng" wind, and "Shui" water. But does it work? Personally, (13 comments)
When Bigger Isn't Better - 07/29/07 01:31 PM
I just read about a franchised real estate business that touts its ability to provide all the services necessary for consumers, from buying to selling, "all under one roof." The article compared this model of service to WalMart. As if that is a good thing. Well, that's not the way I (8 comments)
"Who Let the Dogs Out... woof, woof, woof, woof" - 07/27/07 03:06 PM
Pet owners often just don't get it, and they let beloved Fido and/or Puff run rampant while prospective buyers are touring their property. They forget we are there to evaluate the house, not play with the wildlife. Pets distract from the business at hand. Even when the homeowner is not home pets can pose a (3 comments)
The 24 Hour Work Day - 07/26/07 01:33 PM
I believe in this current market I can not afford the luxury of allotting certain hours of the day to work and certain hours of the day to play. I also believe that given the full schedules of my buyer clients, I owe it to them to make myself available during (4 comments)
Let's Outlaw the Term "Buyers' Market" - 07/25/07 04:03 PM
Once again I found myself giving a buyer client the unwanted news. "Buyers' market" means there is a large inventory of properties in the area. It indicates supply is greater than demand. It's true, these clients are judgmental and demand up front a lot of explanation and clarification of my policies, procedures, and techniques, but I appreciate their candor and interest. During our initial interview, these clients are truly listening to what (6 comments)
What is that FSBO thinking? - 07/23/07 01:43 AM
A few doors down from my home there is a sign on a lawn that reads, "For Sale By Owner." And scrawled across this sign in angry letters is the additional message, "NO AGENTS!" Wow! This man must have an interesting story to tell. Unfortunately, I don't know this person, and (8 comments)
Beware the dreaded Homonym! - 07/22/07 11:46 AM
In the title of a recent blog I used the word "whose" where I should have used the word "who's." No big deal, you might say. But let's do the math. ActiveRain has 39,315 members. If 1/10 of those members read the title of my blog, 3,931 people saw the word "whose" where (8 comments)
Keys, keys, keys. Who's Got the Keys? - 07/22/07 12:08 AM
Showing occupied multi-family properties to potential buyers is always stressful. I arrive at each location wondering: Do the tenants really know to expect us? And, will the tenants be cooperative, or will they be uncooperative and confrontational? Those situations are always delicate and uncomfortable. So who needs the extra stress of missing or (5 comments)
