How to Get higher Google Rankings using Twitter!

Great information on twitter. I think you should check this out.

Via Megan Faust (Virtu-Assist):

By now you have heard of Twitter. But many agents do not know how to use it to increase your search engine rankings for sites like Google! Well today is your lucky day because I am sharing 10 quick tips to optimize your SEO using Twitter. Here are some things you can do to improve your search engine rankings using your Twitter account. Twitter can be very powerful for your SEO (search engine optimization) because Google indexes (or tracks) all the "tweets" on Twitter in real time.

Picking a User Name: For better results in search engines you should include the keyword that you want to rank high with. For example, if you want to be found as a local realtor use a combination of your area or region with realtor or real estate, such as alrealestate (for Alabama real estate).

You can even add your title as Realtor to the end of your real name if you have enough room when you enter your account information

Your Profile Picture: Before you upload your picture to your Twitter profile re-name it using the same keywords. This tags the picture and that is also indexed by Search Engines. If you have already uploaded your picture, simply re-save it with a new name using the keywords and upload it again.

Tweet Keywords: Make sure that your tweets contains keywords and phrases that you want search engines to pick up.

Also, make sure to occasionally use #hashtags. Search engines are already ranking these and this will also help people find you in Twitter search. To use a hashtag simply add the (#) before your keyword. Example #realtor

Twitter Favorites with Keywords: Make sure that some of your favorite tweets contain keywords, key phrases and relevant links

Include links to relevant posts for your keywords. Then Tinyurl.com your links. By Using a shortener like Tinyurl, search engines will recognize the links and rank them.

Directories: This is probably the most important part of your Twitter SEO. Make sure that you are submitting your Twitter profile and RSS feeds to directories.

Include Keywords in your Lists: When you create lists use keywords such as Realtor, Real Estate, etc.

Re-Tweet Popular Posts that include your keywords. The more re-tweets a post gets the higher it's ranking will be. Including those type of posts by re-tweeting them will also help you.

Okay so there are your 10 quick tips to getting better rankings on Google and other search engines using Google! Hope you enjoyed it. If you did--please re-blog or share the link on Twitter : )

It's time for some spring cleaning...

I had my baby on January 11, 2010! She stayed in the hospital for a while because she was born 8 weeks early. We brought her home in the middle of February and things have been hopping around here ever since. I also had to take a day job so my time has really been limited. So one thing I have been meaning to organize is my LinkedIn account. It's gotten a little bit out of hand. What I'm doing now is removing connections that have never sent me an email or connected with me anywhere outside of LinkedIn. In other words, if I look at their name and can't recall who they are, they're gone. My whole point of being on LinkedIn is to actually connect with people, not just have a large database of email addresses. That does me no good. So this is my way of letting you know what's going on...You can't say I didn't warn you.

When networking read the profile before you send that friend request! (rant)

I know I sound like a broken record, but PLEASE take the time to read the profile of the person you wish to network with before you send them a networking invitation. On my LinkedIn profile, I plainly state that I do not accept canned invites, yet day in and day out I receive dozens of "I'd like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn" messages. Grrr! Drives me crazy. Same thing with Facebook. On my profile it plainly states that I don't accept friend requests unless I know how we are connected. So why is it that when I log into Facebook I see at least one or two requests without messages?!?!?!

Networking is about making good first impressions. If you can't even take the time to read my profile, how am I to believe that you will take the time to do a good job on my project? It only takes a few extra minutes to read a profile. This will let you determine if this potential contact is someone that you can help.

Okay rant over. I'm back to my normal, happy go-lucky self.

Adding a Facebook Fan Page to Your Point2 Website

I found this blog post on the ActiveRainer's LinkedIn group. I thought you guys might find this information useful.

Via Bill Gassett Metrowest Massachusetts Real Estate (RE/MAX Executive Realty):

As a Realtor who has a decent grasp of social media marketing, I am constantly looking for ways to drive traffic to the various sites I have including my website. In fact my website is my most important marketing vehicle because I OWN IT!

There are many great sites online that I have a very good online presence at including Active Rain but what if one day you woke up and Active Rain was no longer around? The thought of this happening is just terrible but don't think for a moment that it is not possible.

There are many Realtors and others in the Real Estate industry that get so wrapped up in blogging and other social media marketing that they neglect their website. I can tell you that this is a huge mistake!

I will get back to this point shortly but for those who do not have a Facebook fan page here is an easy to understand video that shows you how to go about creating a fan page.

Once you have created your fan page you can then easily create a page at Point2 and have a stand alone page that has your Facebook fan page on it!

A visitor would then be able to become a fan right from your website.

Once you have your fan page up and running and have invited a few friends, notice the box on the left column that says promote with a fan box. If you click that link you will be taken to a page where you can get the code that you will need to add to your point2 site. You will want to click the button that says "other" and not "blogger". It will give you the code that will allow you to generate your Facebook fan box.

To see what this will look like view Bill Gassett's Website Facebook Fan Page. Having a Facebook fan page is a great way to draw traffic to website or blog. You can add almost anything you like to your page.

The advantage to having a Fan page as opposed to strictly a profile page is that it is indexed by the search engines! Although I had created a fan page a long time ago, I never did anything with it. I have just started to use it as a means of communication.

By creating a fan page on your website a visitor can become a fan right from your site!

Hopefully if you have a Point2 site you know how to create a page! If not I would encourage you to learn everything you can about doing it (Maybe a blog for another time). Trust me it is very easy to do.

If you do not have a Point2 site but another platform that allows you to work with HTML you should be able to add a fan page there as well.

Here is my RE/MAX Executive Realty fan page at Facebook. New fans are always welcome:)

Three Fundmental Principles For New Video Marketers

If you’re reading this post you are interested in marketing with videos. Videos are indeed a good way of getting the word out about your products and services. Before you jump in head first, here are three fundamental principles you need to know about video marketing.

Principle #1 – Know what the purpose of the video is.
Before you start recording your video you need to know what you are trying to accomplish. It will make it easier for you to write your script if you have a clear idea of what the goal of the recording is. It is important to have a clearly defined message.

Principle #2 – Know your target market.
This is important because you don’t want to record something that will offend your audience. Take some time to get to know your niche. Spend some time in the places where the people in your niche hang out. Watch some of the other videos that your competitors are posting. This will give you an idea of what is acceptable in your niche. It’s okay if you do something a little different from most people. After all you are trying to brand yourself. Just don’t go overboard with being different. You don’t want to alienate your audience.

Principle #3 – Be consistent.
This is a biggie. You won’t get results if you only post one video and then walk away. You have to be posting something often, ideally every week so you stay on people’s minds. People are inundated with marketing messages. If you aren’t constantly in front of your market, they will forget about you.

Video marketing is an effective way to market your business. If you take a few minutes to plan your video, you will get the results you are looking for. Use the tips given in this article and you will be off to a great start.

I created a slide show to show how easy it is to contribute to a social media network. Even if you are brand new, you can share information with someone. Enjoy.

I'm making a few changes around here...

Correction, I'm making a lot of changes. For starters, I'm not calling myself a virtual assistant anymore. It's true. While I've had a great run as a virtual assistant, it's time for me to take my business to the next level. I know you're probably asking, well what level is that? I've always wanted to be a coach. I've been hanging out with coaches and reading everything I could find about coaching. I recently attended a 33 minute group mastery call with WendyY Bailey and that gave me a lot of ideas. I'm going to be helping female financial planners learn how to implement video in their social media strategy. So I've asked Active Rain how I change categories since I'm no longer a virtual assistant. I guess I just have to wait on them to get around to my email. I know they're busy. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

I'm pleased to see how this group has grown in number. My goodness. I never would have thought that we could have grown to over 100 members with very little promotional effort on my part. That means I must have an awesome group of people here! But seeing as how we have new members I need to remind everyone of the rules. Very simply, this group is about anything related to linkedin or social media. If I see a post that doesn't mention one of those two things, it will get deleted. Now I have gotten behind on deleting unrelated posts, but rest assured that if it is unrelated it will get removed. I now return you to your regular discussions about social media.

I've published a book on Amazon! I'm so excited to have this happen. I've written a book on affordable online advertising. It lists ways you can advertise online for $35 or less. As you can imagine, I've been quite busy with that. That is what has kept me away from Active Rain for so long. That and the pollen here in Stone Mountain, GA. Fortunately it's May so I should start feeling better pretty soon. If you'd like to find out more about my book, The Cheapskate's Guide To Advertising on The Internet, go to http://www.thecheapskatediva.com

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've written in this blog!

Where does all the time go? I didn't realize it had been almost a month since I last wrote in my Active Rain blog. I think I'm just having too much fun on twitter. Ha Ha. The new things that I have to report is that I don't have an outside blog anymore. Since Active Rain decided to start charging for them, I decided to just let that experiment go. I already have my own hosting so I just use my own hosting for my blogs that exist outside of active rain.

So on that note, the url of http://www.deannatroupe.com is now the home of my virtual assistant service instead of being the home for my outside active rain blog.

The blog that used to live at http://www.deannaspencer.com/learnsmallbusiness now lives at http://www.learnsmallbusiness.com

My personal blog (the one that I ramble on) is located at http://www.deannaspencer.com

I also have a new classified ad site where you can post your ads for free. Just go to http://www.learnsmallbusiness.com/classifiedads

Whew. That was a long update. I'm going to strive to post something here once a week. Everyday is just not going to happen right now.

My 2 cents on the current real estate market.

I'm not a realtor or an investor (yet) but I've been keeping up with what's going on in the real estate market. It seems like to me that you can avoid a lot of headache and lost money by getting back to the fundamentals. Don't buy more house than you can afford. If you're an investor, Don't buy more property than you can afford to pay for if you don't have a renter. It just kinda seems like common sense to me. I know that there's a lot of "sexy" 0 down ways you can invest, but IMHO those ideas leave the investor open for a lot of drama. I know I'm probably going to get flamed a lot for saying this, but sometimes you have to use your brain. Okay I'm done ranting. Back to my usual happy go lucky self.

My response to: Gurus on twitter-Get A Freakin' Clue by Jack Bastide.

I tried to post this comment on Jack Bastide's blog, located here: http://www.tweeterblog.com/twitter-etiquette/gurus-on-twitter-get-a-freakin-clue/

I should never read your tweets before I'm supposed to be taking a break. You always find a way to suck me back in, Jack.
I do follow some people who may never follow me back. Some are celebrities, some are gurus, some are just people that seem interesting to me.

I don't really get mad when people don't follow me back. I do get ticked off when people unfollow me for no apparent reason, especially after they've already gotten such good information from me.

I follow people even when I disagree with them (hmm, I wonder who I could be referring, too?). To me it's all about the interaction. That is the bottom line. Otherwise, we could all just go back to the Web 1.0 days where all you had to do was have a website and an email address.

Moral of this story: Find a way to interact with the people you follow and the ones who follow you. You'll be considered rude if you don't and you may even lose some followers.

How to get your blog on your LinkedIn profile.

As a follow up to the other post I wrote on this subject, here's how to add your blog to your LinkedIn profile. These instructions are for wordpress blogs. I do know that this application works only for wordpress blogs and typepad blogs.

1. Log in to LinkedIn

2. Click on the Applications link

3. Click on the wordpress icon

4. Then it's going to ask you for your url or rss feed.

5. Put that information in and you're good to go.

I hope this helps.

I think they've finally got the hint that they need more functionality if they want to stay alive in the competitive world that is Web2.0 I think it's great!
