Now it looks as if there may be a bright side at the end of this mess for the Detroit economy.  GM and Chrysler have continued talks to have a merger, with of course GM acquiring Chrysler.  How can this help us?  With layoffs happening and the sales slump that both companies are in, a merger of the two would only make the companies more financially strong and would slow down the layoff process with the hopes of people still having their jobs.

Also, with the merger GM is likely to keep their position in the race for first, as the number one automotive company in the world, keeping Toyota at bay in second.  I'm sure with these talks and hopefully a full executed merger of the two companies will bring the stock back up to where it belongs.  GM, I would have to say is the most under priced stock in the NYSE, closing Friday at $4.89.  There is no way that Ford and Chrysler even competes with them.  GM is not just an automaker, they are a very diverse company.  Having investments in a bundle of companies, including:

AC Delco,
Adam Opel GmbH, Allison Transmission All assets except the Allison plant in Baltimore were divested in early 2007. GM-Allison hybrid-powered buses,
Fisher Body Assembly Division,
General Motors Acceptance Corporation 51% stake sold to Cerberus Capital management for 14.7 billion in late 2006,
General Motors Assembly Division, General Motors Canada, General Motors do Brasil, General Motors India,
Global Hybrid Cooperation,
General Motors South Africa, GM-AvtoVAZ,
GM Daewoo (50.9%), GM Defense,
GM Europe, GM Holden Ltd,
GM Performance Division,
GM Powertrain Europe,
GM Service Parts Operations,
OnStar, Saab Automobile,
Shanghai GM (50%),
Vauxhall Motors,
SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Joint venture in China.

The reason why I mentioned all these companies to you is because GM is just not a Auto Company, they are invested into technology like no other, that's what makes them different, with companies like Daewoo, Onstar, and other innovative technology companies that separates GM from the rest.

I mentioned this before and I still believe that the best investment and this investment will shoot GM way past the competition is the investment of BioTechnology companies.  That is a multi-billion dollar industry and is growing very, very quickly right now in our own backyard (Metro Detroit).  They are popping up very quickly and staking their headquarters right here.  GM stay innovative and get into this sector, trust me it will pay off and your stocks will go through the roof.   Right now my recommendation is buy GM stock if you have got it.  They are not going anywhere.
