arlington cemetery: Flags In for Memorial Day 2012 - 05/25/12 12:29 PM
Yesterday Afternoon Soldiers placed more than 200,000 small U.S. Flags on grave markers at ARLINGTON National Cemetary to mark the start of Memorial Day weekend activities.
Since 1948, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Guard, has been carrying out this tradition called "Flags In".The flags are placed with "military" like precision, one foot and centered in front of each grave marker.  The effect is spectacular and worth the short trip to Arlington Cemetery to see this weekend! All the flags will be removed after Memorial Day.
