The Blair Subdivision is one of the oldest subdivision of homes in Silver Spring.  Developed in the early 1900's, the Blair Neighborhood has an abundance of Sears Homes.  With wonderful old timey bungalows, colonials, american four squares and cape cods, this neighborhood is walking distance to Silver Spring Metro and borders on Downtown Silver Spring.  The Blair Subdivision is considered part of East Silver Spring.

The bungalow, in Silver Spring, MD, is one of the most popular home styles that vintage home buyers will ask me to look for. 
 When I think of, or hear the word Bungalow, the first streets that come to mind are Silver Spring Avenue, Thayer Avenue, Easley Street, Sligo Avenue, Gist, Richmond and all their cross streets.  The subdivisions are Silver Spring, Silver Spring Park and Blair.  Developed from the early 1900's to early 1930's, this is a Vintage Bungalow Lover's Heaven!  Every imaginable Bungalow type and style is represented and concentrated in this part of Silver Spring.

Romance Novelist Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb grew up in this adorable bungalow off of Sligo Avenue near the heart of Downtown Silver Spring.  This area used to be known as "Takoma Park" and is now known as North Takoma Park with a Silver Spring Address.  Nora Roberts' real name is Eleanor M Robertson and her 85+ year old mother still owns this house.  She grew up the youngest and "an only girl", with a slew of brothers, who still live in the area.    Nora went to Parochial School, probably Saint Michaels Elementary, and then for High School she attended The Academy of the Holy Names (a girls High School on Pershing … (0 comments)

Takoma Park, or "Granola Park" as some locals call it now, was the first planned suburban community of Washington, DC.  Founded in 1883, by Benjamin Franklin Gilbert, Takoma Park was developed along a branch of the B & O railroad. It was originally conceived as a "summer resort" area, as a healthful clean-water alternative to Washington, DC's malarial swamps. With a population of 18,000 it rests along the upper northeast boundary of D.C. and strattles Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties in Maryland.  B.F.
