silver spring business: Street Food in the East Silver Spring Neighborhood Downtown - 05/09/12 05:58 PM
Stopped by this Food Truck today at the CITGO gas station on the corner of Fenton and Bonifant Street. The truck is located at the edge of the East Silver Spring residential neighborhood. They have been here for just 3 days.
The food was delicious and fairly CHEAP. I had the “Steak and Fries” for 5 Bucks even. Plenty of marinated sliced steak meat with grilled veggies and rice, covered in fries with an incredible white sauce drizzled over it all. Since this was so good, next time I’m going to try the hot dog with shredded fries for $3.

I haven’t been in a laundromat in a long, long, long time, maybe 12 to 15 years ago.
The last time I needed to use a laundromat I went to the one near the corner of University Blvd & Piney Branch Road and also the one in the 16th Street Strip Mall that was on the level under the McDonalds there. They were both crowded places and kinda dingy and dark. There were 2 different sizes of washers and dryers that took coins. I couldn’t wait to get my laundry done and get out.

This backyard backs to an alley in the McNeill's neighborhood of Silver Spring, It was a cool thing to watch this small back yard space transfomed into such an abundant oasis, in a neighborhood that is just 2 blocks from the Downtown Silver Spring CBD.
This was really a bare small backyard just a few years ago. Every inch of space has been used cleverly, (even part of the alley) for the landscape and plantings. Even though there is a lot of space used for gardening, there is still a driveway to the garage and a large gazebo used for outdoor dining and fun.

This is a large steak and cheese sub from Santucci's in Silver Spring. Santucci's is a little Italian Deli in the Woodmoor Shopping Center on Colesville Road, Four Corners, Maryland. This place has the best subs ever! It's been here as far back as I can remember. It's better than Quiznos, Subway, Jerrys or any other "chain" sub place around. The flavor is homemade, NY italian deli meat, special seasonings, really good italian bread and attention to detail. They take their subs seriously here and it shows.

The Woodmoor Bakery has all you need for celebrating Easter Week. Their Egg cakes are the No. 1 seller during easter followed by Peter Rabbit and Bunny cakes. The Parker House Rolls are hard to keep on the shelves around Easter too! There is a new and "improved" corner in Silver Spring. Gil's Restaurant has opened @ the corner of Silver Spring Avenue and Piney Branch Road. It's the corner store at the end of the old strip shopping center on Piney Branch Road near the intersection of Dale and Piney Branch.
I hardly recognized this place. It's was the site of Matchu Pitchu restaurant and then something like Lembada's (not sure of either spelling), just remember the restaurants there before were "scruffy", beat up looking, raucous at night and not very appetizing.

Today is Paczki Day!
The tradition is the Tuesday before Lent is a time to indulge or Fatten up before tightening belts and giving up things for Lent, which starts on Ash Wednesday.I know of no better excuse to make a visit to the Woodmoor Pastry Shop. The best, or maybe the only place to get Paczki in Silver Spring, is at the Woodmoor Bakery/Pastry Shop in the Woodmoor Shopping Center. They make the most divine, decadent Paczki anywhere in the area.Here's Hoping the Paczki are plentiful, there is no long line and they don't run out!

Four Corners Animal Hospital was established in 1957, and moved to its present location in 1963. Through Dr. Rosswell Bowersett, Sr., and Dr. Bowersett, Jr., they have seen two generations of Silver Spring clients. In 1988, Dr. Bowersett, Jr., began working at Four Corners with his dad. Dr. Bowersett, Sr., worked daily with the practice from 1957 until his death in July 2000. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
