I don't use Facebook that often...and, well maybe I should.
Just like all of you, it's overwhelming to keep up w all the blogging and the social media and other marketing I do and take care of running my business (doing the appointments, estimates and tons of day to day stuff).
Yes, I do have an assistant (who is amazing) and now she is over capacity too...and I'm doing my best to delegate and prioritize.

Today, I had fun going to a past customer's home. I met the wife beginning of Janaury just before the closing, and we refinished their floors.
This time, I got to meet the husband, the new baby that was inside her and the dog. That was cool.
I usually take my shoes off at customer's home - both to be respectful of their floors and their customs. The exception to this is if the house is under construction or they've had a flood and it's not safe for me to walk without shoes.

Based on some comments on a few blog posts, it appears that many home owners don't realize that you can change the color of hardwood flooring when you refinish the floors. Yes, it's true...you can go light or dark or red tones or anywhere in between.

This morning I received an interesting call from a nice homeowner in California.
Unfortunately, she is having some problems with new and old floors. It seems that she had some pickled oak floors in some areas of the home and was adding new hardwood to match and then refinish all the areas so that thye matched. She interviewed several contractors and asked them about replacing some sections and starting from scratch vs. adding new and blending it in. It's so funny when I think back a year and half ago when I started to blog on Active Rain. I was afraid I would quickly run out of ideas to blog about. After all, how many things can you write about for flooring? But, somehow, after over 1,100 blog postsI still have plenty to blog about.
But, what is soooo funny, is that now in everyday life, when something happens, I think, oh, that's a good idea for a blog post. And, out comes the digital camera.

This morning I went to a county wide BNI meeting, and we had a wonderful speaker named Timothy Houston who wes giving us some great advice on how NOT to network. He's written a whole book on the subject, and he was a a very engaging speaker.
I'm sure all of us have experienced some bad networkers out there...the ones that do themselves more harm than good by being to pushy and needy or negative, you get the idea. (and, I'm sure to some extent we have all found ourselves doing this a tad too).

It's always fun to look back at the previous month to see which posts rose to the top. These are sorted based on clicks. This month has less clicks than usual as I had so many members only posts (due to our recent contest). The other aspect is that I've been so unbelievably busy with my business, that's been challenging to find the time to write some quality flooring posts. Ironically, my blogging is making me busy...and too busy to blog.
