TEXAS (Real Estate Center) - Newly released data from Texas Multiple Listing Services (MLS) show existing home sales are down from last year while average and median prices are up.
"Texas home sales peaked this year in May rather than the normal June-July period because of the expired tax credit stimulus," said Real Estate Center Research Economist Dr. Jim Gaines.
"August 2010 sales were down 14 percent from August last year but were up 3.6 percent from dismal July figures, which were down 27 percent from the previous year."

These are the foreclosure stats for August 2010. THIS IS FOR DENTON COUNTY TEXAS
You may find this interesting.... The original foreclosure list for Aug Auction had 601 properties on the list.The results sheet shows 161 properties that were actually auctioned and out of those....11 were sold to a 3rd party (not back to the lender)
That means that almost 27% of the properties that were on the foreclosure/auction list for Denton County Texas were sold at auction.

1)      Great news for mortgage interest rates:
a.       The Fed has just announced they will buy $750 BILLION more in mortgage bonds (this is on top of the $500 BILLION they had already committed to, totaling $1.25 TRILLION).  In addition, they have committed to buying $300 BILLION in Treasury bonds.
b.      What does this mean?  This will help keep the price of bonds high, which in turn keeps the yield low / IN OTHER WORDS, mortgage interest rates will tend to stay in these low levels for a longer period of time.
